FWIW..just changed the plugs/wires......26 Sep 2005 14:45 GMT3
on my wifes 1999 Legacy Outback Wagon, 2.5L.  Man, what a job.  A real bear
getting to ALL the plugs to get them out/back in.
I think I had less problems changing the plugs on our previously owned 98
Jimmy (driver side center plug...steering column blocks it.
Forester making "chirping" sound26 Sep 2005 10:00 GMT1
I have a 2006 Forester XT 5 spd manual.  I have put about 4500 km on
it.  I have just recently noticed that the clutch is making a
"chirping" or squeaking noise as I release it while starting on a
steep grade.  Any thoughts?
Can STI could be stolen? (US)26 Sep 2005 08:41 GMT6
Yes it can. My friend with wife went to the shopping mall and when
returned could not find his STI. Some time later it was found totally
riped of the parts and abandoned somewhere. It happened in NY.

We have a 1983 1800 wagon which has done about 250,000 kms.
Car starts reliably and drives ok *but* it is using a lot of water.
Filled it up last week and it has used 2-3 litres in 5 days!
I have spent hours searching for leaks (including using flouro dye) and cant

wanted: Vacuum Hose Plan25 Sep 2005 11:54 GMT2
I need to install a new carb into a Subaru Libero (very small van) with
1100 cc machine. It's a Hitachi carb.
The problem is, there are about 12 vacuum hoses hanging around. Google
only finds "look under the hood", but this mini-van of course doesnt
Catalytic Converter replacement24 Sep 2005 20:04 GMT13
Just in case anyone else out there w/ <80k miles has seen a PO420 CEL

I was getting that code and found by luck that the converter is warrantied
for 8yr/80k miles (may only be USA ? ).  Anyway, for the $52 that they
WRX STi headlamp height24 Sep 2005 01:55 GMT1
How do people normally set their headlamp height adjustment knob in
STi's? For my 2004 model, the manual doesn't really give much advice.
I'd originally assumed that a fairly unloaded car should be set at 0
or 1, and as I accumulated passengers in the back or stuff in the
Fuel gauge problems '95 Impreza23 Sep 2005 02:41 GMT1
I've got a '95 Impreza outback wagon (2.2, awd, auto).  The fuel gauge
was all over the place, replaced the fuel level sender, and it worked
right for a couple days, but now its just reading dead empty.
What else should I take a look at?  I was getting current readings on
just a crazy idea21 Sep 2005 22:08 GMT2
or maybe not. has anyone tried bolting on an aftermarket supercharger in a
WRX in addition to its turbo? the idea is to achieve a similar setup in the
Lancia Delta Intergrale. The turbo will be a big one, perhaps capable of
500bhp, and therefore present an awful load of lag. The ...
'85 GL Hatch vacuum timing21 Sep 2005 14:04 GMT2
Hey all.  I've got an '85 GL Hatchback 4WD with a carb'd EA-81.  It seems to
be losing what little power it's got, so I checked the timing.  I've had the car for a
few years, but never checked it before.
The book says it's supposed to be at 8 BTDC with the vacuum removed (and
subaru hybrid - manual transmission21 Sep 2005 09:34 GMT6
Do you think the subaru turbo hybrid will come with a manual
transmission or just automatic?   If it can come with a manual any ideas
on how it would work?  Thanks for any responses.

1998 Subaru Forester rear scraping noise21 Sep 2005 04:20 GMT4
While making a right or left turn I get a scraping noise in the rear wheel
area. I have had it to two garages and they don't know what it is. One
garage said they had another customer with the same problem. I thought it
might be the rear brakes so I changed the pads, checked ...
