97 Outback Head Gasket Question31 Dec 2005 03:23 GMT6
my 97 outback was diagnosed with a head gasket leak (coolant in
overflow, moisture in exhaust, milky substance in oil ect...) on the
EJ25 DOHC. Car has body damage and 150k miles so decided not to fix,
rather drive into the ground (i commute ~1 mile to work each way).
Tire Chains on Forester31 Dec 2005 00:47 GMT8
I have an '06 Forester.  I was thinking of carrying chains for use in
extreme winter conditions.  The manual says that they are ok provided
that the meet the right clearance standards and are put on the front
wheels.  I'd be interested in hearing from others on their experiences
Tumbler Generator30 Dec 2005 21:37 GMT9
My wife has an 2005 Outback 2.5XT and a few days ago her check engine light came on and the car didn't want to accelerate.  She turned it off, restarted and it has been fine since.  We went in to the dealer who said the  Tumbler Generator needed to be replaced.  Can anyone ...
Engine lifting points?30 Dec 2005 20:34 GMT12
I am getting ready to lift the engine out of my daughter's impreza and
was wondering what the best place is to lift this engine from.
I see threaded holes on the cylinder heads so could probably bolt "I"
bolts into them but is that the preferred way? I have a load leveller
'99 OB screeching noise30 Dec 2005 19:51 GMT4
I just bought a 1999 Outback.  Sometimes when I start the car I hear
screeching noises.  After a few minutes of driving the noise disappears.
Any suggestion?
Thanks
LL Bean fuel economy30 Dec 2005 14:13 GMT14
Anyone have an LL Bean edition Subaru?  I need to know what fuel mileage
you are getting.  Someone, not me, has a new Bean and is only getting 6
mpg in town. This seems just a little low to me.
TIA
Load carrying capability of Outback?30 Dec 2005 05:40 GMT2
I've been looking at an 02 outback on a local car lot.  However, I routinely
carry a few hundred pounds of gear for work in the back of my vehicle on a
daily basis (the space behind the rear seat in the Outback is one of the
attractive features for a vehicle of that size).  On my ...

Greetings all,
Doing some research on a 2006 Legacy 2.5i Limited. Has anyone purchase
one and what do you think? I have a 1995 Legacy LSI and it seems that this
2006 is a perfect fit to replace the 1995. Wife's Car, but its gotta be as
a different trip computer problem30 Dec 2005 04:35 GMT6
The elapsed time function in my '06 Outback is screwy--or I'm not
understanding how it's supposed to work. If I start the car then switch
the trip computer to elapsed time, 100% of the time the display will be
stuck on three horizontal dashes. If I simply leave the trip computer
Hi/Lo tranny for Forester???30 Dec 2005 03:35 GMT3
I have heard that for some markets (Australia?) the Forester is
available with a dual-range tranny. Can anyone confirm this?
Boy, I'd sure like to drop one in our '02 Forester when I have it
apart for its' 100K service this spring. Any idea if any of these
05 Legacy air conditioning problem30 Dec 2005 00:10 GMT7
5 month old Legacy a/c problem needs $700 fix not covered by warranty.
Selling dealer charged me $100 to tell me that!
My 05 Legacy is less than 6 months old with 5000 miles has several problems

New Timing Belt Reduced MPG ? 2.2 L 95 Legacy29 Dec 2005 16:25 GMT5
My friend had the timing belt replaced recently in his 95 Outback
Legacy with 2.2 Liter 5 speed.  He noticed a slight decrease in power
at the low end of the RPM's, but no loss at he upper end of the RPM
band.  Is there a way to check / adjust / set the timing?  Could the
Subaru Legacy problem fixed...29 Dec 2005 16:08 GMT8
In the off chance that anybody cares, here is what happened with the
Subaru cold start problem that I posted about here a few days back.
After having the repair place attempt to read the fault code with
their high tech snap-on scanner and getting nothing and changing the
Subaru Extended Warranty...29 Dec 2005 12:58 GMT5
Greetings all,
I was quoted a price of $1950 for a Subaru Extended Warrant from the 3
year/36,000 miles to 7 years/100,000 miles. Is this a good price and is it
worth it? We put about 10,000 miles per year. This coverage would be for a
