Automatic transmission fluid won't go down the hole27 Jan 2006 01:03 GMT4
I bagan to change the ATF yesterday in my 1999 Subaru Legacy Wagon with
111000 miles.  The drain plug opened and yielded approximately 4 quarts
of brownish fluid.  I changed the AT external filter ($33.00) USD adn
proceeded to run the engine while refilling the tranny.  After about
Head gasket finally went26 Jan 2006 22:19 GMT21
Well, it happened on Friday.  My 98 Forester with 147K kms started to
overheat on the way to work, and after getting it towed to my dealer,
I found out that my head gasket is done.   Bummer.
I guess my question is, will this happen again?  It's been a great car
Radio Mute for Phone on 00 Subaru Outback26 Jan 2006 20:18 GMT5
Hello --
I am trying to get a Parrot 3100 installed in my 2000 Subaru Outback
Limited (Legacy), that has the subwoofer/amplifier factory option, and
a single cd player in its stock radio (no external changer).  BTW, I
Audio on 06 Outback Ltd26 Jan 2006 14:48 GMT1
I am about to buy my 5th soobie, drooling over a 2006 outback wagon
2.51 Limited.  It comes with the premium audio package which is ok, but
really not that great.  What are my options?  I would not mind pouring
some more $$ into it for better sound and an ipod integration but the
developing story...26 Jan 2006 12:19 GMT3
ok. tried to bleed my radiator by myself tonight which almost resulted
in a castastrophic overheating of the engine. i had car on hill,
radiator cap off, bleed valve off, and ran car at 3000 rpm. needless to
say there was a lot of fluid spewing everywhere.
Catalytic Converter Code (P0420)26 Jan 2006 01:24 GMT2
Over Christmas, my CEL came on.  I wasn't in a position to take it to a
dealer, so I checked out my first theory a couple hours (and 100 miles)
later.  I'd had my oil changed a few days (and 200 miles) earlier, and
I guessed they didn't put the air filter canister together right.  I
side mirror crack26 Jan 2006 00:27 GMT1
i came home from a week in florida and found my WRX, parked at the airport
had a cracked side mirror.  First thing i suspected was someone got their
suitcase out of their car and hit my car, but i inspected my door and mirror
closely and couldn't find any dents, smudges or ...
Malfunction of Electronic Key for 2003 Forester25 Jan 2006 23:10 GMT5
My electronic key for the car has gotten a little odd lately. It seems to
work about 1 out of 50 tries. I can stand close to the pick up antenna in
the rear window and the action works a tiny bit better. I noticed the tiny
red LED stays on quite a bit, but clicking the lock ...
driving style will save head gasket?25 Jan 2006 22:54 GMT3
i never put a lot of stress on the engine, the max speed i usually
drive is 65mph, rpm's rarely ever go over 3000 unless i go fast from a
stop. will putting less stress on the engine through the way u drive
make the head gaskets last longer? or is it doomed to fail once your
wheel swap?25 Jan 2006 21:44 GMT3
Would Koenig rims from a Mercury Sable even come close to fitting on a
2005 Subaru Legacy SE?
I have an opportunity to pick up a full set of Arctic Alpins on Koenigs
for pretty cheap, and I am
Caliper Sliders25 Jan 2006 13:17 GMT4
I had a brake job done today, both front and rear, on my 2004 Impreza
2.5 TS Wagon, almost 60,000 miles.  This was done at an independent
garage.  While they did not replace the calipers, they replaced the
caliper sliders at $15 each.
crank pulley torque - wrong in books?24 Jan 2006 23:51 GMT4
Got the Impreza engine all back together and was just triple checking
what I have done - it will be going back in tomorrow if all goes well.
Just read a post that states that the crank pulley is supposed to be
tightened to over 100 ft/lb and that the manuals are all wrong. Is this
Ticking/Clicking Noises on 06 Outback 2.5i AT Wagon24 Jan 2006 22:51 GMT2
I have a question for fellow Subaru owners out there.
My car (06 Subaru Outback 2.5i Wagon AT Non-Turbo) is less than 1 mo old and
the car makes an intermittent ticking/clicking noise from the front-end.  I
can hear it at times during idling...but it becomes evident after putting
99 legacy stock cd player replaceable with 6 disk for a 2000 legacy?24 Jan 2006 22:22 GMT2
Hi group, i took your advice and i have begun to research to replace my
broken cd player... I wanted to know if I could replace my 1999 legacy
stock cd- player that is broken with a 6 disk cd- changer for the 2000
legacy? will it fit in the same slot? is it still a plug and play
Swapping an 98' MT with a 96' MT engine?24 Jan 2006 21:50 GMT2
My 98' Legacy outback recently lost a valve and detonated a cylinder.
The cause of which was a delamination of the main crank pulley (strange
I know).  As a result the timing belt slipped.
I found a crashed 96' automatic to swap the engines with.  Are there
