`00-`04 Outback Radio Antenna21 Jan 2006 02:39 GMT3
One thing I have noticed since purchasing my `01 Outback is that because the
antenna is stuck to the left rear cargo window, reception of distant radio
stations is much poorer compared to my mom's `95 Legacy L which has the
metal antenna that slides down into the car frame and ...
Question about 2001 Shifting.21 Jan 2006 02:01 GMT11
I have one question about the shifting of the 2001 Outback that I purchased.
Upshifting the vehicle works great.  Shifting up through all of the gears is
extremely smooth and all is well.  Even downshifting through the gears is
smooth until I shift from 2nd gear to 1st gear.  I ...
anti lock brakes20 Jan 2006 16:40 GMT12
I was driving my son's  95 Legacy wagon today and the ABS light went
on. The weather was snowing so I pulled into a rest area and tried the
brakes. No ABS.
We noticed after I turned the car off that there was a noise in the
'05 Forester: recommendations?20 Jan 2006 14:37 GMT11
I'm about to ditch my '94 Legacy wagon for high mileage and expensive
repairs. I'm considering replacing it with a 2005 Forester, 5 spd, about
50K miles on it. The price is $18,000. My thought is that if I'm going
to spend that kind of money on a car, I'd rather spend it up front ...
Impreza water pump gasket - sealant required?20 Jan 2006 03:51 GMT3
Sorry about the million questions, but do both the water pump gasket
and thermostat gasket require any sealant like permatex? Or does one
both slip them in?
The manual doesn't state it and was wondering if that was by mistake.
05' WRX  and Forester XT20 Jan 2006 01:39 GMT3
Is reliability of the 05' WRX  and Forester XT (turbo engines) on par
with non-turbo models? I mean long term use like 200K + miles.

'05 Forester XT (USA) Whistling noise20 Jan 2006 00:28 GMT7
I recently noticed that my 05 Forester XT developed a slight whistling
noise.Sort of like air whooshing.  I notice it on moderate
accelleration, and as soon as I back off slightly on the gas pedal, it
goes away.  Anyone else had this problem? No changes have been made in
87 Legacy Wagon19 Jan 2006 22:40 GMT3
So my girlfriend just picked up an 87 legacy wagon with 160k on it. Has
hi/lo 4wd. Runs and drives ok. Got a couple quick Q's
Q1. The engine started getting warm driving it home, but before
reaching critical it cooled down to a normal temp (presumably the

Charcoal canister?19 Jan 2006 22:34 GMT4
I am wondering about the charcoal canister on my recently purchased 87
GL wagon. Carbuerated engine. First off I want to make sure it's the
charcoal canister. It's located on the passenger side of the engine
down from the spare tire, about the diameter of a can of soup, but not

99 Outback Legacy Wagon, engine stuttered, Chk Eng lit up, now runs OK19 Jan 2006 22:27 GMT4
I've got a 99 Legacy Outback wagon (4-cylinder).
Three weeks ago, at 78,000 miles, the clutch failed. The car was across
the street from a service station, so I pushed the car into their parking
lot and had them replace the clutch. ($689 including tax.)
Subaru fog lamp switch wiring19 Jan 2006 22:02 GMT4
I have a 98 Outback sport (Imprezza) and recently after a long (4 day)
journey to a small town I decided to get a quick fluid and tyre service
and have some fog lights installed. Needless to say the fog lights
worked fine, but the switch was a real cheapy with no on light that ...

Philadelphia PA area?
