I have a 1999 Suburu Legacy, standard transmission, with about 130K
miles. It has been a very good car. But lately, when the engine starts
to lug, it goes berserk. Instead of the gentle lurching I've
experienced with every car I have owned, it lurches wildly at the onset

Another Surging Forester13 Feb 2006 19:58 GMT8
I have a 2001 Forester and it surges slightly while I am decelerating.
If I drive ~40mph, then brake to an easy stop I can feel the car lurch.
These lurches appear to match the gears changing.  These surges are in
the forward direction.

I have a 2001 Forester and their is some knob looking thing on the floor
right in front of the left seat bracket on the drivers seat.  Its a
small plastic thing sticking out of the carpet.  I can't imagine what
this could be!?  My car is US Market.
Impreza - Ignition Locks13 Feb 2006 18:43 GMT7
I own a '97 Impreza with 107,000 miles, which has been an
exceptionally fine automobile for me. But more and more
frequently, I am unable to turn the key in the ignition,
especially if I have not straightened the wheels out before
"Hill Stopper" Clutch13 Feb 2006 15:27 GMT22
Does anyone know if this was a real technology implimented by Subaru in
years past?  My mom claims that when she had her first Subaru GL? wagon from
around `87, it had something called a Hill-Stopper Clutch installed which
basically prevented you from drifting backwards down a ...
1998 Indiana Legacy - Rear axle noise - crossmember?13 Feb 2006 14:55 GMT2
Hi, I've had the front axel replaced on my Indiana-assembled 98 legacy
and now hear a squealing coming from the rear of the car and am
wondering if it is exactly this following "trouble spot" that I found

opinions on Impreza 2.0R non-turbo13 Feb 2006 06:48 GMT6
They just started to sell Impreza 2.0R AWD in Turkey for a competitive price and I am thinking about
getting one. I am thinking about non turbo model (2 liter, 160 hp) with automatic transmission.
Got couple of questions. 1-Subaru is not well known in Turkey as much as Toyota or ...
? ghost in my auto door locks - Impreza Outback Sport  9813 Feb 2006 02:55 GMT3
Last week my auto-locks started engaging every 30 to 50 seconds or so.
Sometimes it stops but starts back up again, seemingly when I brake or use
the turn signal, but this could just be coincidence.  Any ideas?

'03 Baja Instrument Panel Stays On12 Feb 2006 20:59 GMT4
I was installing a new radio in my 2003 5sp Baja.  Got the kit from
Crutchfields.  Went to test the new radio and it did not come on.
Checked all the wiring, it was correct but still no power at radio.
Plugged the old radio back in and it too was "dead".  Checked all

SAE J1962 connector location on Impreza 9712 Feb 2006 00:36 GMT3
Where is the OBD-II connector on '97 Impreza 2.0 litre engine ? Does
this car has this connector ? I looked near the steering column, fuse
box, but didn't find. I just find one orange 10 pin connector but it
does not look like a SAE J1962 connector.
QUESTION: Adjusting steering wheel on 02 WRX11 Feb 2006 00:15 GMT7
Hey, all.
The steering wheel on my 02 WRX is about 3 degrees off in its centering
when the vehicle is going straight. Since this has always been the
case, I'm guessing that it's just a case of slightly sloppy assembly or
1995 Impreza L Power Steering Leak from Reservoir10 Feb 2006 04:04 GMT3
I have a 1995 Impreza L 2.2 that is leaking power steering fluid from
the p.s. reservoir.  It leaks where the two halves of the reservoir
mate.  I think it is a faulty design.  I was looking at replacing the
tank with the revised design on the 1997 model Impreza.  The design of
