Use of Ethanol20 Mar 2006 17:59 GMT4
Subaru does not seem to recommend anywhere the use of ethanol.  Can
Subaru reset it's computers etc. to adapt to ethanol?
Or can we just use ethanol in a Subaru?

Anyone know how to disable the seatbelt alarm on 2005 Outback?20 Mar 2006 15:11 GMT12
I always wear the damn thing, and always will, EXCEPT for this one
thing:  when I get home, I get out of the car to get my mail from the
box across the street.  Then I need to drive down the driveway we share
with 3 other houses.  It's 0.1 mile long.  I don't want to have to put
Couple of Subaru Loyale Questions20 Mar 2006 06:23 GMT6
I have a 1992 Subaru Loyale 4x4 wagon, about 259000 kms.  (first clutch, I
believe)
1st Problem: when slowing up to a stop light, with the clutch pedal down,
the car seems to jerk along until the brake finally stops it.
Re: The 92 Subaru Loyale 1.8 FWD is still running... CHECKENGINELI< Not a Spoiler, read within20 Mar 2006 04:24 GMT2
Haven't you noticed that almost all wagons have these airfoils at the rear edge
of the roof?  These are not spoilers, they are air deflectors which direct air
down over the rear window to keep it clear of dirt, snow, etc.
Just drive the same car with and without one and you will see ...

So Who Makes Good Aftermarket Cats?20 Mar 2006 03:55 GMT4
I've read all the horror stories about aftermarket catalytic converters
melting heads, torching upholstery, etc., etc., but there are still
some folks who say "there are acceptable aftermarket cats for Subarus."
Who makes them?  Anyone here had a good experience with an aftermarket
Big Scare!20 Mar 2006 00:11 GMT4
I used to be a service manager at a car dealership (not subaru), I
always get my service done there, and I am still quite good friends
with the owner, the current manager was one of my employees. They
always treat me good.
'97 Legacy Outback 30th Anniv.Ed. - Car wont start after...19 Mar 2006 05:02 GMT9
some long time when the battery was removed. In addition to this I
found a keyless entry module under the steering wheel and I dont have
the remote (it was bought from the insurance auction). Nevermind the
fact car was hit slightly in the front, airbags didnt deploy. I turn
iPod/new Subarus19 Mar 2006 02:03 GMT8
I am thinking of getting a WRX, but notice that they don't come with
cassette players anymore. Has anyone figured out how to listen to yor
iPod ? Transmitters like iTrip don't work well in cities, where there
are lots of radio stations.
2003 Subaru 6 disc dc player problems18 Mar 2006 17:21 GMT4
My Cd player just went kaput.  Does anyone know of defects or problems
with this model?  Does anyone know if the 6 disc cd/cassette player
from a WRX/STI or forester is compatable?
06 Forester gas mileage?18 Mar 2006 08:10 GMT7
What kind of gas mileage have people been getting on the newer
Foresters? I only have 500 miles on mine so far (5 sp., premium
package) but I'm only getting 18-19 mpg. It's been pretty much all city
driving (mostly rush hour too) with some highway thrown in. I do hope
2006 Forester--is the tweeter kit worth it?18 Mar 2006 02:41 GMT15
After having my new Forester for a few weeks I know I need to upgrade
the sound system. I have the premium package with the 6 cd changer and
from what I've read, what will make the most difference is to replace
the speakers, so I plan to buy better speakers for the front anyway. If
Strong gasoline smell when starting in cold16 Mar 2006 16:28 GMT19
I have a 2000 Outback (2.5L, auto) with about 80,000 miles.  It has
been a great car with virtually no problems.  Recently when starting
in the morning in cold weather, there is a strong smell of gasoline --
like someone has poured gas inside the interior of the car.  It is

Gurgling, Jetsons-car-type-noise?15 Mar 2006 19:48 GMT9
I have a '98 Subaru Legacy AWD with 100k miles.  When you rev, it's
louder than it seems it should be and the usual engine noise sound is
accompanied by another gurgling noise.  It sounds kind of like a
low-pitched bicycle chain click and is constant.  My girlfriend calls
