Getting ripped off at a dealership service dept?20 Jun 2006 01:36 GMT8
I wanted to run a current situation past the experts on here to get your
thoughts.  For 10 years my momhas been taking her `95 legacy to the
Ford/Mazda/Subaru Dealership's service department for service.  So naturally
when I purchased my `01 Outback in December of this past year, ...

Howdy folks,
I just got a 1998 Subaru and wanna check a few things out:
1. Under the steering colum there are TWO, GREEN, disconnected wire
connectors. What are those? Computer reset connectors?
Check Engine light19 Jun 2006 19:02 GMT11
I have  a 1999 Subaru Outback Sport with about 80,000 miles. The check
engine light came on. I put the gas cap back on as instructed in the manual
and it went off for a while. Now it is back on steady. I had the catalytic
converter replaced at 59,000. What should I do?
Pollen filter for Forester 00-01MY RHD19 Jun 2006 06:13 GMT6
Hello, world! :)
I'm looking for pollen (cabin) filter for Forester 00-01MY RHD. I've
tried G3210-FC200 (for LHD),. but it's not the same. Looks like that
filter for RHD must be similar (from two parts), but a few larger.
Tires19 Jun 2006 02:44 GMT7
What is the Subaru position regarding tires which are 6 years old?
Speed Sensor Replacement18 Jun 2006 22:04 GMT1
I have a '98 Impreza Outback that has a bad speed sensor (the one in
the transmission) and I was wondering what a decent price for the part
and labor was. I understand that this part is relatively cheap and easy
to install, so any advice would be great so I don't get ripped off.

Cost of replacing '97 OBW head and oil pan gaskets18 Jun 2006 19:37 GMT7
I have a '97 OBW (USA) with manual transmission.  This is
the base Outback, not the one with the higher performance
engine.  The car had about 110K miles at the time.
I asked my regular mechanic to look the car over to see what
Rear Strut18 Jun 2006 04:18 GMT1
One of the rear struts on my lovely 1997 Impreza Sedan is leaking oil.  It's
done 100k plus miles so no problem.  I'm feeling stupid because I can't
figure out how to get the rear seat back off so that I can get to the nuts
at the top of the strut.  It seems to be continuous along ...
'99 Legacy Outback Limited - what's the ACS switch for?17 Jun 2006 14:42 GMT8
About to buy a one of these and while test driving it, I noticed a
button on the moon roof control panel that I believe said 'ACS,' but the
owner didn't know what it was for.

from the manual please?

Power window failure in 2002 OBW16 Jun 2006 16:28 GMT2
My wife calls me today to tell me that 3 of the windows in our Outback
are no longer working.  The lone functional window is of course the
driver's window.  Her father brings it into a shop he trusts and has
them check out the relay switches and fuses(s).  Apparently there is
Legacy Wagon Waterpump15 Jun 2006 22:56 GMT5
I have a friend with a 95 Legacy wagon that I suspect has a shot water pump.
(Have to get over to see for myself, but from the description ...)
If I were to try and help here myself what pitfalls should I expect. I know
the pump is belt driven and I'd probablty replace the belt ...
'96 Legacy Outback remote programming15 Jun 2006 21:25 GMT2
How do I program a new remote?  There's no mention in the owner's manual.
On my '99 OBS I held in the button under the dash until the locks cycled 3
times, then pushed the lock button on the remote.  I tried that on my '96
Legacy but I hear a few clicks, the locks cycle once, I ...
