2000 Forester, transmission slips occasionally when put into D (Automatic).15 Jun 2006 15:36 GMT5
I have a 2000 Forester.  Its been pretty much trouble free from day 1
save for a goofy ignition coil back around 50k. Replaced under
warranty. Until now.
118K miles. Sometime after 100K miles I noticed the transmission
2000-2004 Outbacks Flex Fuel Capable?15 Jun 2006 03:32 GMT5
I'm wondering if any of the 2000-2004 (or 2005+) Subaru's are flex fuel
capable being able to handle E85?  If not, is the modification to the fuel
system possible to allow it?

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed the following behaviour out of
their engines.
I have a 2003 OBS with 110k kms.  Lately I have noticed that the engine
RPM seems to drop much faster between shifts than other times.  It

External Auto Tranny Filter on '99 OBW12 Jun 2006 17:47 GMT5
My tranny has been acting wierd since I got this car three years ago.
At the time, I flushed the fluid which didn't help. I though there was
no external filter, but poking around I see that there sure seems to be
one, right on top of the tranny itself.
Good books on body repair (bondo)?12 Jun 2006 05:53 GMT9
I've got a '92 Legacy with lots of rust.  It has always been outside and
some kids poked at it with an ice pick awhile back with started that
accelerated some of the rusting but it has other rust simply due to lack
of care.  So there are several spots that need bondo & paint (and ...

98 outback legacy wagon leaking oil around timing belt (camshaft & crankshaft seals?)11 Jun 2006 02:29 GMT4
I have a 98 outback wagon that is leaking oil pretty badly.  I had some
advice saying it was probably coming from the camshaft and crankshaft
seals.  How difficult is it to change these seals (what does this job
entail)?  how long would it take and how much would it cost to do it my

Seat airbags/seatcovers10 Jun 2006 17:25 GMT3
My parents have a 2005 OB Wagon and we have a 2006.  Both cars have airbags
in the side of the seats. When we call the dealer about seatcovers that
won't interfere with the airbags they say "we'd never thought about that
before".
noisy engine when starting10 Jun 2006 15:19 GMT8
I just "found" this group and it is good to find some Subaru owners and
fixers :)  I have a sound like hydraulic valve when I start the engine.
It goes away fast and is less obvious when starting the car with the
engine warm.  Also a ticking at speed when cruising.  Less when
How much current can I get from cigarette lighter10 Jun 2006 13:41 GMT5
Good morning,
I have a 2005 Imprezza GX.  I would like to use a GPS (Garmin GPS12) and a
Tablet PC using a double adaptor from the cigarette lighter.  The GPS uses
virtually nothing and the  tablet is rated at 16v and 3.36 amps when
