LGT/RSK alternator / electrics (NZ)10 Jun 2006 02:56 GMT3
got a JDM MY2000 RSK b4 that stranded us the other night. Roadside AA
callout found no juice from the alternator, so the battery had been
drained. Diag was confirmed by an auto sparkie at the local garage.
Topping it didn't help :) They managed to jump it with just enough juice

What people are reading these days?09 Jun 2006 18:58 GMT2
I'm curious what are good automotive publications in the US?
I've been partial to Car & Driver due to an excellent writing style.
But there must be others that the fellow loonies like. Both in paper
and online.
power window stopped working09 Jun 2006 12:22 GMT3
I've an 03 OBW.  The rear-right power window is 'stuck' in the open
position - I opened it all the way this afternoon and when I tried
closing it 2 hours later nothing happened.  There is no motor noise,
only the sound of the switch flicking frantically back and forth on the
`95 Legacy rear door won't lock09 Jun 2006 04:35 GMT1
My moms `95 Legacy Wagon L had a new rear door replaced several years ago
after some kid at a gas station backed a pickup into her.  After all was
said and done, the body shop that worked on it, had to get an entirely new
rear door and install it.
'98 Impreza Outback Sport - burnt rubber smell09 Jun 2006 03:10 GMT4
The other day, after driving about 40 miles on the highway on a hot day,
and I noticed a burnt rubber smell.  I opened the hood and didn't notice
the smell coming form the engine area.  I sniffed around and the smell
was strongest in the area of the driver's side front tire.  The ...
Rough idle on new WRX08 Jun 2006 23:57 GMT25
6 months ago I purchased an 06 WRX and have been quite happy with it.
The only thing is the idle. It has a definite miss fire or something
that makes it rough. Its not terrible and the dealership claims that
Subaru thinks its normal for a turbo engine. Does this make sense. It
Tire Rotation08 Jun 2006 19:09 GMT15
Does anyone have an idea why Subaru says to rotate tires from front to
back on the same side of the car? Most tire manufacturers recommend that
you move the rear tires to the front on the same side, but rotate the
front tires to the rear, on the opposite side. Seems to me this ...

Clicking Noise: CV/Half Axle, transmission-center differential, tie rods?08 Jun 2006 12:01 GMT3
1999 Subaru Outback:
The vehicle has been making a clicking noise whenever I turn the
vehicle left or right turning slowly.  It is most notable when I drive
slowly around the parking looking for a space making left, right turns

spark plugs change - any tips?08 Jun 2006 02:52 GMT7
I have a 1999 Forester 2.5 L automatic 62,000 miles. I've decided to
change the plugs myself. Is this a major undertaking? I heard that I
might have to remove the battery and washer fluid container to get at
the plugs on the left side. Is this true?
second thoughts...07 Jun 2006 18:03 GMT5
i've been having these second thoughts about my 98 forester. it was
surely a nice car when i bought it, even if it had 135k miles. i think
back about putting my bike in the back and going mountain biking, going
to remote sites, having prospects of going up into the mountains, the
turbo unit on WRX 07 Jun 2006 12:23 GMT14
My turbo doesnt seem to work!... I go over 4500rpm and the revs burst up to
7000rpm and when I let go the dump valve kicks in... Thing is I don't have
the shove in the back like I used to.
Can anyone shed any light on the reason why this is?
