Ring Gear or Starter Motor ?31 Jul 2006 23:03 GMT2
Just got for the second time in a few weeks a terrible grinding noise
when I go to start my 2000 Impreza RS. The noise just dissapears after
the 2nd try and then the car starts normally.
The car has 68000 and it is a manual transmission. The first thing (and
Shock absorber life for 2001 OBW?31 Jul 2006 22:09 GMT2
At 54,000 miles my Subie's ride has slightly but noticably become softer. Tires
and tire pressure and all other variables are the same. Are the shocks wearing
in or out? How long do shocks on this model last? I drive slowly and never go
off road. Thanks,
gas leak - picture - fuel filler pipe?31 Jul 2006 04:19 GMT4
I started smelling a strong gasoline smell around my car, and after a
little looking I noticed that a pipe near the back right tire was
leaking gas after I shut the engine off. After a short period of
leaking, the gasstops coming out. I looked in my manual, and my best
2006 Forester Auto Trans Problem?31 Jul 2006 04:13 GMT3
I have a 2005 Forester with a shifting problem which the dealer can't
fix. It will intermitantly decelerate for a moment when I'm pushing
down moderately further on the accelerator and it tries to decide what
gear to be in then downshifts to second gear which is too low for the

Checking 95 Legacy L "Check Engine" Code30 Jul 2006 06:12 GMT2
I've seen others mention about getting the specific error code from the
computer when the Check Engine light appears.  It came on this evening on my
mom's Legacy and I'm wondering what the procedure is for checking that on
hers.
Disable factory alarm/keyless entry on 2003 Impreza30 Jul 2006 03:39 GMT3
We're just installing an aftermarket alarm in an '03 Impreza WRX and
the owner would like the factory alarm and keyless entry system
"disconnected".  I'm thinking we should be able to get away with simply
disabling it... but how to do that?
Cobb AccessPort "economy" setting30 Jul 2006 02:46 GMT10
Hi everyone.  I recently bought a new Legacy GT (I had a 1993 Impreza
with 172,000 miles before) and am thinking about buying a Cobb
AccessPort.  I am interested in the extra power I could get out of it
but after filling up my gas tank for the first time, I think I would be
How to remove `01 Outback headliner?30 Jul 2006 01:27 GMT4
In pursuit of my repairing the first sunroof in my Outback, I learned I
would have to remove the headliner in the vehicle so that I can check the
sunroof motor, cable, and attachments to the window.  Does one know how to
remove the headliner?  The headliner is seemingly held in ...
Forester Trailer Wiring Connector29 Jul 2006 14:11 GMT2
The 6-pin connector pre-wired into the Forester and many
(all?) other Subaru's for connection to the trailer wiring
harness must be a standard connector that can be purchased
through an electronic parts store such as Newark or Mouser.
Roof rack for '98 Impreza Wagon29 Jul 2006 03:32 GMT4
This should be a simple question to answer.  I want to install a roof
rack on a '98 Impreza Wagon.  I don't want to drill any holes in the roof.
It appears that there should be mounting points under the plastic strips
filling the rain grooves.  I called a Subaru dealer and asked ...
Roof mounted clock28 Jul 2006 07:01 GMT1
HI, I have a 2001 Subaru Forrester and the clock seems to have an
intermittent fault. The "lcd" started to fade and now does not show at all.
Occasionally, though, the display will come on and the time is correct,
indicating an illumination fault, rather than a clock fault.
clutch replacement '92 loyale27 Jul 2006 18:51 GMT4
i'm wondering how much time in the books does replacing a clutch on a 92
loyale costs? i was quoted $1300 for parts and labor, and that sounds
crazy to me. it's a 2wd/4wd. also, she's stuck in 4wd. anyone know what
the problem maybe? is it just a simple switch circuitry?
Cruise Control Sloppiness??27 Jul 2006 11:32 GMT4
When I would set the Cruise Control on my previous cars - a Ford
Explorer
and a Ford Ranger - the car would maintain the exact mileage set. If I
set the Cruise Control for 62 mph, the Explorer would maintain 62 mph
90,000 mile Maintanence to-do's27 Jul 2006 01:07 GMT4
My 90k maintenance is coming up on my `01 OBW rather quickly.  At one time I
would have taken it to the dealership only because a service manager who
used to work there is a friend and customer of my business.  So I trust his
insights, decisions, and suggestions.  However as I ...
