mileage on american vs canadian gasoline30 Sep 2006 09:36 GMT17
I've discussed this in the past and have never gotten a real good
explanation for this, but I just came back from a 4000+kms trip through
the USA and now have some numbers to prove my observations.
In Canada, milage is reported as litres of gas per 100kms.  Therefore
2004 Forester rear differential shudder/chatter30 Sep 2006 02:27 GMT8
Hi- just got a 2004 Forester 2.5X w/ 20k miles, runs great, but noticed
that when I shift into drive and apply gas immediately (within 2-3
secs) there's a pronouced shudder from what feels like the rear end.
I'm guessing it's the AWD system getting the rear differential in snyc,
93 Subaru Impreza30 Sep 2006 01:52 GMT1
My 93 Impreza has been giving me problems for the last 3 months. When
i'm driving for awhile it starts to spit and sputter and will just lose
all power and shut off. I can usually start it back with no problem but
at times it will take a few tries. I changed the Fuel filter, Fuel
What is that SOUND??29 Sep 2006 23:28 GMT4
Hi, I've got a 95 Subaru Loyale wagon with a rubbing/whining sound from
the back right panel by the tire.  My mechanic has had it 3 times in
the last week and a half.  He says he can't diagnose it without hearing
the sound himself, which is problematic because the sound comes and

the temp gauge is normal.
99 Legacy - turn signal noise (ignition OFF)29 Sep 2006 01:02 GMT6
I have a 1999 Legacy L sedan 4dr (not Outback) which started making
turn signal or flasher noises (like the turn signal is actuated, but
the ignition switch is OFF and the car is in park).
Anyone ever heard of this, or know the fix or workaround?
subaru mechanic in the RDU area28 Sep 2006 21:55 GMT2
Looking for options besides the dealer in the Raleigh/Durham area for my
90 Legacy wagon.
How serious is piston noise?28 Sep 2006 20:52 GMT10
I understand that 'piston slap' is a much discussed topic, but I'm
afraid I'm confused about it, still, and I hope someone is willing to
help me out. I bought a 2003 Legacy with 72000 miles last Febuary - it
is my first car. In August (with about 76000 miles at the time) a
P0420 Trouble Code ??28 Sep 2006 16:44 GMT9
I have a P0420 trouble code, that says "Catalyst Efficiency Below
Threshold". Can any one give me an idea on how to raise the efficiency of
the catalyst?  My car is a '99 2.5L Legacy Outback wagon w/ 113K miles. Is
this trying to tell me I need to replace the catalytic converter ...
yr 2000 Forester UK ?28 Sep 2006 14:53 GMT3
Im looking to replace my 110 landrover with something a bit more wife
friendly, slightly more economical, and fun to drive. I think the
forester fits my needs, and SWMBO seems to be ok to, so my question is
what should I look out for? I think we'll be looking at 2000 /2001
How many Qts of Brake Fluid required?28 Sep 2006 01:42 GMT4
How many quarts of brake fluid are required in the DOT-3 / Outback `01
wagon?  This is part of my preperation for buying the nessecary supplies in
advance before having service done.
2001 Outback Dyno Readings27 Sep 2006 03:32 GMT6
After being disappointed by the wife's 03 dyno readings (see previous
posting), I decided to ask my friend to allow me to take the readings in
his 01.
The results:
1987 Subaru Wagon GL27 Sep 2006 03:09 GMT1
I want to set up the engine to run e-85 or gas.  Has anyone done this
or have any ideas of what is required. Also I am willing to give up
power for better milage, any ideas.
Knock sensor replacement 96 impreza26 Sep 2006 22:06 GMT3
I need to replace the knock sensor on my 96 impreza.  Haynes says to
take off the intake manifold and half of the engine with it.  I think I
can see the sensor bolted to the block under the throttle assembly, and
that I could just whip out the old sensor without taking anything else
