Well it looks like it was a good thing I delayed my 90k service by a few weeks. Last week I noticed that there was a brief 'sweet' smell coming from the drivers side area under the hood. I noticed it once after driving the car and then it seemingly went away. Well I got down ...

| Alternator shot at 55k in '01 OBW | 17 Sep 2006 23:01 GMT | 1 |
The red light went on, and the dealer said I needed a new one. No headline here, but I put about 200,000 miles on each of my two preceding cars without this. Is it common for an alternator to go so soon? IAC, the red light went on when I was 30 miles from home (and in Canada no

My 96 OBW with 178,000 and a blown headgasket is no longer worth keeping. As I would expect very little if anything as a trade-in, can anyone recommend a reputable charity to give the car to. I am in the NYC area. Thanks.

I borrowed a family members 94 Legacy to fix a repeatedly dying battery. Easy fix; the 'parking lights always on' button was toggled on. However, after charging the battery the 'check engine light' came on and car was hard to start. It cranks fine but won't start on the

| Why flush brake system? | 15 Sep 2006 14:06 GMT | 27 |
They tell me that I need to flush my brake system and coolant system. Both of these systems are closed! Why would you need to flush a closed system. They are not under the same pressure and abuse as oil, I change my oil every 3000 miles. Those other "flushes" sound like a way for
