Cam & Crank seals per vehicle?13 Oct 2006 20:36 GMT1
I'm just curious, are 2 camshaft and 2 crankshaft seals required per engine?
Being that I've never actually worked in or torn a block apart, I feel kind
of ignorant for asking that.
Thanks!

I am trying to understand how serious/expensive the problem
might be:

more timing belt questions....13 Oct 2006 07:21 GMT4
Hi- I have an '86 GL-10  wagon. It has been sitting for a while. I am
taking it to a mechanic, but i m not sure how familiar he is with
subarus. I am giving him a manual for just timing belts, and he is
talented. If they are put on wrong and they try to start the engine,
01 Forester 6 CD Player Jammed13 Oct 2006 00:23 GMT1
Anyone ever try to unjam an 01 Forester or any 01 Subaru 6-CD player?
I went to dealer and they told me to go see a stereo dealer.
They won't even work on their own CD players.  So much for customer service.

There is an intermittent delay problem with the transmission.  When it
97 Subaru Ignition Key won't turn12 Oct 2006 15:27 GMT6

have my car towed If I can fix it myself.
My ingnition key will not turn in the lock. I have tried the usual
turning the wheel while turning the key, moving it up and down, etc.
Tech Svc Bulletin12 Oct 2006 14:25 GMT2
On an earlier thread, Mr. Hayes gave me this helpful info: "Subaru has
a TSB out on engine noise. If I remember correctly: from a
cold start if any piston noise goes away after 5 minutes it is
considered OK. If the noise persists after 5 minutes then the warranty

Why did I buy a used Subaru?12 Oct 2006 04:04 GMT21
Someone please tell me.
In late July, I bought a used 99 Outback Wagon, manual transmission, higher
mileage, 120K.  I didn't pay a lot for it, but having bought it from a
dealer who stated that the vehicle had been thoroughly checked, I assumed

I have a 98 Forester, and it's getting a fuel pump replaced.  I was
wondering if there's a list anywhere of the standard charge for this
repair?  For example, 3 hours?  4?
Thanks folks.  I like subarus, but i've replaced the head gasket twice,
Subaru Sterio/CD 'Locking'?11 Oct 2006 17:25 GMT4
I purchased a sterio head unit for my mom's `95 Legacy last week which came
out of a brand new WRX.  The plugs fit and everything worked great.  Radio
and weather bands come in perfect.  However when inserting a CD, the CD just
spins for about 11 seconds and then ejects with no ...
2.5i or 3.0?11 Oct 2006 04:47 GMT7
After over 8 years with our current Subaru, the wife is ready for a new one.
My question is which engine?  I know the 2.5 had some cooling problems (air

going to be buying new, so I am most interested in ...
