Differences between WRX TR and 2.5i27 Mar 2007 04:07 GMT6
Does any one know how the WRX TR differs from the standard Impreza
2.5i?  Is the turbo the only difference?  If so why not buy the 2.5i
for around 18k and upgrade the hell out of it with 7k you save over
the WRX TR?  Assuming there are some differences besides the turbo,
Best timing on Forester27 Mar 2007 02:31 GMT3
I have a 03 Forester MT with 170k. Replaced timing belt at 145k by my mechanic.
I noticed that sometime the car, when idling, was about 600-700 rpm. I drove cars with stick
before and was told it should be around 900rpm. So I talked to my mechanic. He said the the
best setting is ...

Head Gasket Failure?25 Mar 2007 22:45 GMT2
I have an 02' OBW, 2.5L 4-Cyl engine. In early february, I noticed
that the temp gauge was redlining. I brought it in to my local
mechanic. He found that I was low on coolant and it appeared that I
had a coolant leak. He did some minor repairs (include some routine
Buying used 97 Legacy, questions.25 Mar 2007 18:36 GMT2
I've found a 97 Legacy sedan with 120,000mi that I'm thinking of buying and
I have a few questions.
There's nothing obvious wrong with it, it looks and drives like (nearly) new
and there arn't any leaks however:
Examine this 96 Legacy.25 Mar 2007 03:43 GMT6

The white stuff on the roof and on the other vehicles is clearly snow,
but what¹s the discoloration on the front bumper of the red Legacy?  It
reminds me of times when I¹ve spray-painted plastic, and then the paint
Oil Pan Gasket replacement25 Mar 2007 00:41 GMT8
My '99 Legacy Outback (120k miles) has a bad leak at the oil pan. The auto
parts place sold me a cork gasket, yet the dealer says to use Permatex
"form a gasket". I only want to do this once, does anyone recomend the RTV
over cork, or the other way around. I'm leaning towards the ...

1990 Subaru Loyale Wagon Spark Problems23 Mar 2007 19:25 GMT5
Car died while driving. Power in battery, engine turns over,
alternator new, starter moving. pulled into shop and got no spark

Cabin air filter?23 Mar 2007 02:56 GMT7
I've seen mention of a 'cabin air filter' for some models of Subaru.
Evidently this (if present) is up behind the glove box.  On my 02 LLBeam
Outback Wagon, I can see a piece of open cell foam up there, but nothing
like the paper filter elements I see for sale on eBay and elsewhere ...
Low compression on 2 cylinders but good cylinder leak down test23 Mar 2007 02:34 GMT3
I recently aquired a 92 Legacy with a 2.2 engine (130k miles). The
compression on the 2 & 4 cylinders is 155, while 1 & 3 come in at 75
each. The engine passed a cylinder leak down test* administered by the
Subaru shop after they installed a new timing belt. The old one was
