| Question regarding temporary use spare tire | 18 Mar 2007 16:43 GMT | 1 |
I had to fix my third flat in about 18 months today, and that got me thinking: How many times/miles are the temporary use spare tiress in Subarus good for (I'm driving a '99 OBW)? I'm sure I put more than the 50 miles I've heard they are rated for on it over those last three trips ...

| Checking spare tire pressure in US 2005 Forester XT | 18 Mar 2007 02:00 GMT | 10 |
The full size spare tire in the US '05 Forester is mounted with the valve stem facing downward. I see it has to be this way to take advantage of the depression in the rim to hold the circular storage caddy..

I'm new to the group and have been reading the group's posts for a while. I just purchased a used 03' Subaru Forester X with 53,900 miles on it from an individual seller. The car was inspected by a mechanic prior to purchase and is in good condition. In addition, it has

I am soooo impressed with this car. I'm totally loving the handling, power, etc. What a change from my old domestic car. Night and day. I even drove a WRX Sti to see what that was like. Lets just say I am now addicted to the turbo spooling up sound and the whooosh through

| Gas mileage in my '03 OBW | 15 Mar 2007 15:27 GMT | 28 |
Well, I'm somewhat disappointed in the gas mileage I've gotten so far in my OBW. The mfr's sticker when I bought the car said it gets 22/28 city/highway. I have a '03 OBW, 4-cylinder 2.5, automatic. After my first fill-up, I've been keeping an eye on the tripometer (reset to 0

| My Subaru enthusiasm has been dampened | 15 Mar 2007 14:31 GMT | 14 |
Took my 99 OBW (2.5L) to the dealer for some regular service at 130,000. The car has been very well maintained and garaged. I was told that the cam and crank seals are leaking (they were already replaced at 105,000 miles), there's a slight transmission leak and the

| All-wheel-drive and low traction | 14 Mar 2007 15:27 GMT | 23 |
I was reading that the AWD works better to maintain traction when the wheels have more power going to them, but in ice and snow people often recommend that you use a higher gear. Is there any contradiction here? -- Mark

| 2001 Forester - lower gas milage with ComforTread | 14 Mar 2007 04:15 GMT | 6 |
I installed GoodYear ComforTread on my 2001 Forester recently. Before that, gas milage in city used to be ~20 mpg. But after I installed the new tires, it became ~18 mpg. Is this normal? Or maybe the tires were installed incorrectly?
