How long do timing belts really last?20 Jan 2008 14:06 GMT13
I know the recommended change for the timing belt is at 60K (2.2l
engine, 1998 legacy), but how long do these belts really last before
breaking?  I am coming up on 120K and wonder if I dare extend the
time? Last belt change WAS at 60K.  Thanks for any inputs

very perqueerliar No Starting Problem19 Jan 2008 16:17 GMT5
I have an 89 DL Wagon (2wd) EA82, recently I came out to start the Car
to let it warm up because I live in a winterzone.  I heard a mild
scraping, rubbing clunking sound and I shut it off to look under the
Hood.  It was like the Fan was rubbing on a piece of Ice.
Looking for some "unusual" parts19 Jan 2008 14:26 GMT2
I have a 1999 Subaru Outback in which the little plastic clips that hold
the trim on the rear door (hatchback?) are losing their grip, and the
hooks that hold the cargo net across the back are breaking.  Can someone
direct me to a place, online or national chain store, that has ...

Steering Wheel Off Center18 Jan 2008 23:10 GMT15
Car is a new 2008 Outback with about 1700 miles.  The steering wheel
on the car must be turned left slightly to keep the car tracking
straight.  The car does not pull to one side very noticably but with
the wheel centered the car will drift to the right.

buying a vehicle procedure - seeking advice17 Jan 2008 13:54 GMT6
I found a car to to replace my hit/poor Subaru. I visited seller, drove
the car, all is okay. Some details remained but kind of ready for a
transaction. Now, she insists to wire money to her account. All looks
fine, but it begs a question, how to be 100% certain I get the car ...
Pros / Cons of Replacing 92 loyale with 92 legacy17 Jan 2008 01:27 GMT7
I've owned a 92 loyale 4wd wagon for the past 4 years.  We've used in
for camping and trucking our two little kids (under 3yrs) around
town.  I bought it at 218,000km and now it's 272,000km.  No major
problems.  I've replaced the radiator, alternator, clutch cable, front
"Hard" brakes in freezing weather16 Jan 2008 22:53 GMT6
I've got a problem with my 97 Legacy wagon: in really cold weather
(10F/-12C or below) the brakes are very hard for at least a few
seconds.  The colder it is, the longer it takes the brakes to work.
I've been out in 0F/-18C and had to warm up the car for at least a
Loudspeakers for Forester?16 Jan 2008 22:26 GMT5
Hi you all,
Does anybody know any good suitable replacement loudspeakers for the
Forester (2000)?
There seems to be very odd mounting hole dimensions, 104 mm holes in the
struts on Outback:  expected age/mileage, cost to replace16 Jan 2008 16:18 GMT3
I'm creeping up on 115k on a 2001 OBW, and taking bumps now is such
that it feels like time for struts.  Would y'all concur?
What should I expect to pay for replacements, any other suspension
parts that are generally changed out at the same time (I'm having some
Standars or Metric bolts16 Jan 2008 07:24 GMT2
Do 07' Impreza's have std. or metric bolts, or some of both? I'm
thinking they are probably all metric. Thinking of getting a set of
wrenches to carry in it.

How many trannys will I have to go through?16 Jan 2008 07:17 GMT3
My Subie:
'94 Legacy Ti, AWD, manual transmission.
At around 135K mi. my transmission started to refuse to stay in 4th.
It would occasionally pop out of gear, especially when decelerating.
