So who else does 4WD well?08 Jan 2008 02:33 GMT28
I realize that a Subaru newsgroup may not be the best place to get unbiased

I have sometimes read that not all 4 wheel drive systems are created
equally. I've seen them characterized as "just too late" as compared to the
New Motor 2001 Outback 4 cyl auto07 Jan 2008 18:04 GMT3
The dreaded gasket leak in my Outback probably went un-noticed long enough
that I need to start considering worst-case scenarios.
The value of the car is about 5,000 at most (75k, needs tires/alignment and
a bit of body work), and I need to decide if I want to deal with

I've noticed that, at times, my acceleration seems sluggish or impaired.
I have the 5-speed automatic, and, usually leave the performance setting in
"S" mode.
The car is usually peppy and responsive, quite often revving up over 3-4

Please Help--vehicle in shop with tranny or electrical problem.  While
driving, we get locked out of the tranny.  Vehicle stays running with
no power, like revving in neutral.  This has happened at 3000 miles

Learning Subes05 Jan 2008 22:27 GMT7
I'm learing a bit at a time. Found out about the hydraulic timing
belt tensioner, and why it said  to take 3 min to compress it. An
aircraft mechanic friend wanted to know about that one.
Trying to figure out what a Valve Spring Stopper is or does, and how
Forester wading depth04 Jan 2008 19:57 GMT17
Anyone know what the maximum depth of water is that I can safely go through with
my '01 S Turbo Forester?  My route to work involves crossing a ford and on
occasions it gets deep after heavy rain. Are there any known mods to increase
the depth safely?
My1992 Legacy GT @ 400K04 Jan 2008 13:58 GMT1
Just passing time during the end of holidays so thought I would look around
and found this Subaru group. Am curious about the "care" with which people
approach their "pets" here! So thought some might be interested in my
experience with an older hard working Subaru which has ...

Folk,
This has been a problem on and off for a while now. It came on

go to.
2003 Legacy Instrument Panel Bulb Change?02 Jan 2008 11:53 GMT1
Has anyone ever changed a burned out dashboard light on an '03 Legacy

I can pre-purchase one?
The bulb in question lights the right half of the tach & the
Re: Blown Strut 04 OBW02 Jan 2008 00:16 GMT2
It's well known in the U.K. motor trade that large tyre firm employee
are encouraged to squirt oil on struts and shocks in order to sel
more of them. If I were you , I'd wipe off the oil and check th
strut over a couple of weeks to see if it leaks any more, or take th

Okay, new problem to me.  (-;  Driver's side electric window will not go up
