2000 Outback Timing Belt29 Feb 2008 13:36 GMT4
I have a 2000 Outback that is nearing time for the timing belt
replacement.
I have lost some faith in my local mechanic, so I checked with the
dealer for their estimate for this work. Quoted $1,175 to replace
piston slap common?26 Feb 2008 08:47 GMT13
My mechanic said my 1998 Legacy's tapping sound (which goes away warmed up)
may be piston slap. It has 136,000 miles on the 2.2 liter engine. No
troubles with car except for the light tapping noise. Is this a common issue
for Subaru's? I read on one website that the piston slap ...
2008 Legacy Fuel Consumption25 Feb 2008 04:26 GMT7
Looking to purchase a 2008 Legacy sedan, 5spd manual, non-turbo. Can
anyone tell me what they are getting for fuel consumption? Please let me
know if you are talking Imperial or US gallons.
Gonna trade in a `94 Turbo, burns lots of premium gas!
1998 Legasy Oil Leakage?25 Feb 2008 04:17 GMT2
Our local sub dealer is telling my Grandaughter that the leak from her
Legasy is from the engine oil pump and that it will cost a thousand dollars
to repair or replace the pump.  Guess my thought was that the oil pump was
internal and shouldn't show leakage on the outside of the ...
Fuel Mileage Caluculation24 Feb 2008 23:42 GMT3
Just purchased a used 2007 Subaru Legacy 2.5i wagon.  The display on
the dash has the ability to display "instantaneous fuel consumption"
and average fuel consumption, both in liters/100 km.  The average fuel
consumption reading is tied to the trip odometer, so that is where the

Extended Warranty21 Feb 2008 08:58 GMT6
I have just purchased a demo 2007 Legacy 2.5i wagon with the touring
package and 18,000 km. I have not been able to find out much about the
long term reliability of Subarus. Given the kms I would put on the
car, the best option for me would be a 6 year, 140,000 Km warranty for
Benefits of Frameless Windows?21 Feb 2008 00:53 GMT12
Any positive reasons why Subaru uses frameless windows?
Yesterday I was again reminded of one of the down sides on a long
highway trip with cross winds gusting over 40 mph coming from the
right.  The periods of wind noise coming from the driver side window
Subaru Prices.20 Feb 2008 18:04 GMT2
About half of the heating elements in my heated rear windscreen have
stopped working in my 97 Outback. Out of curiosity I phoned Autoglass
(UK) for a quote for a replacement windscreen. After the nice gentleman
took all my details he asked me was I seated. To my surprise he ...
brakes20 Feb 2008 02:18 GMT5
My 2003 OBS needs rotors, drums, pads, shoes, and possibly a caliper.
I have family members who have replaced the same on their own cars
(corolla, chrystler), will the subaru be much different?  Is the ABS
sensor going to be an issue for this job?
Bar's Head Gasket Repair, another follow-up...19 Feb 2008 10:35 GMT22
Well. It finally stopped snowing/icing enough (actually got near 50
degrees for a minute today) for me to change the oil on the Subaru GL
Hatch that had the Head Gasket Repair stuff thrown in.
Pleasing results. I did not see any green around the gaskets where I had
2001 Impreza Transmission Problem19 Feb 2008 02:00 GMT6
Hi gurus,
so my Impreza drives just fine, no problems, until I've driven for
maybe 30-45 minutes and everything is good and warm -- then I get a
really nasty klunking sound when I'm parking my car (i.e. turning the
'04 Forester - problems with engine flooding?18 Feb 2008 18:20 GMT5
My 2004 Forester has recently begun having what looks to be engine
flooding problems.  Three times in less than a month, I have gone to
start the car - the engine cranks, so it's not a battery issue, but it
won't 'catch' or ignite.
fuses18 Feb 2008 16:34 GMT3
Hey,  My girlfriend informed me that her bun warmers (i.e. seat
heater) wasn't working today.  I was wondering if somebody could tell
me with out me poking around outside, it's quite cold, and i'd just go
out and swap it. Where that fuse located?
