| Follow up to Head Gasket in a bottle repair and a question...? (Ray O et al, listen up!) | 10 Feb 2008 18:15 GMT | 15 |
The headgasket 'repair' on my '89 Suby GL Coupe seems to be OK. I haven't had a good look (since it won't stop SNOWING!) but the next day we get where there's more than 5 minutes of sunshine I have to change the oil, so I'll take a good look at the area where the coolant was weeping ...

| New noise under acceleration / load | 10 Feb 2008 01:06 GMT | 3 |
I've got a 98 outback wagon with 175,000 miles. Over the last couple days I've noticed a new noise - sort of a loose grinding sound when the car is accelerating or under a load. It's only when the car is in gear - ruling out the engine - and i can't hear it if the window is

| What about the Outback H6 engines? | 08 Feb 2008 13:53 GMT | 2 |
I seem to recall some (initial?) issues with reliability of these. Anyone have a summary? Also, did the H6 Outback's have the same transmission and diff ratios as the 4 cyl models?

A wrx with 30k. Almost could move under its own power, had a rattle from the clutch area. Trans removal found the clutch was 50% gone.. not the friction material, the clutch. There is the center plate and springs, but only a few thin pieces of

| Tire recommendation ? | 06 Feb 2008 18:29 GMT | 8 |
I know I've seen some of this go around but thought I'd ask again. I was at the Subaru dealership this morning for my 45K checkup and an oil change. All was well but they said that my tires (47K miles on the car actually) were getting thin and would probably have to be replaced

| (Subaru) Now, this is an interesting page... | 06 Feb 2008 04:28 GMT | 21 |
I have two Subys, an '89 Coupe and a '97 Wagon. The '89 has the 1800 and the '97 has the 2.2 SOHC engine. I was looking for information on replacing the headgaskets (BOTH have BHGs...) and ran across this at AutoZone:

I own a 1998 Subaru Legacy wagon with the 2.2 liter motor, automatic. Recently I noticed a slight engine knock/tap sound mainly first 10 minutes of driving when driving aound town. Not major loud at all but you can here it up front slightly. Disappears after car warms up. I read ...

| Headgasket sealant: I try stuff so you don't have to! | 04 Feb 2008 23:08 GMT | 38 |
OK, 'repairing' the headgaskets on the Subaru. Using some stuff called Bar's Head gasket repair. http://www.barsproducts.com/1100.htm Yeah, I've got some snake oil in the refrigerator, too.

| ABS pedal feel? | 03 Feb 2008 01:47 GMT | 34 |
I'm not a fan of ABS, though I have little experience. The brakes on my new 07' Impreza don't start grabbing till I am into the pedal a bit, and today I had to stop fast, and the pedal went down and felt mushy. I told the dealer to check it before I took the car, and they

| Subie pulling to the right after tire rotation | 01 Feb 2008 06:00 GMT | 8 |
98 Legacy L, AT, AWD stock rims and stock tire size.... Had my tires rotated (about the 4th rotation on these tires [25K on them]) and noticed now the car pulls to the right. The pull is more than what one would expect driving on the right side of the road when the road has a ...
