Just so there is a record of this problem as a separate news tread. The wife began to notice the burnt grease smell, so familiar due to the inner CVJ boot failure. As usual I thought, the boot must be torn, so I ordered the boot kit.

'00 OBW 2.5L auto w116K. I have oil leaking into the right-front plug wells. I haven't pulled the valve cover but is this simply an o-ring type gasket is it it much more involved?

Just started, but I can smell the burning rubber from the vents and see the smoke for 2 seconds coming from the hood when the car is shut off, can narrow it down when I pop the hood. Starting to worry me a bit. it's on a 1998 Outback Legacy, any suggestions on where to start?

The problem happens when I shift the car into drive, the car behaves as if its in neutral. I sit there and rev it a few times and away we go. The amount of times I have to rev it is getting longer now though, although it is quite random how longer it takes to shift into gear.

Have a 2006 Forester with no visible condensate drip from ac and a moldy smell in cabin. Drain hose doesn't seem to be clogged and I can pour water in through hose and it all seems to drain out. Any ideas?

Thanks Guys !! It wasn't as bad as I've read it could be, since the filter came off fairly easy, with a bottom cup tool, but things I read on the forum, Helped a Lot, especially for a mentally and physically dinged up guy

Are fuel filters something you clean or something you replace when they get dirty? I have been running E85 for a thousand miles now, and they say there may be gunk in there that the ethanol has cleaned out of the old car's
