| Wow...I can't beleive this worked! | 12 Nov 2008 04:35 GMT | 2 |
The two electric fans would not fit in the space provided, so I decided to put the mechanical fan back in. I tried 80 wt gear oil, not tight enough, so I drained most of the oil out (there was still a bit of silicone oil left). You can get silicone oil for fan clutches from Toyota ...

| OK, this is driving me crazy... | 11 Nov 2008 02:58 GMT | 4 |
Couldn't get a Toyota fan clutch to fit, tried to repair the old one. I should have just drilled a hole in it and staked it but I decided to change the car over to an electric fan. I had a good size Toyota fan for a Tercel brand new, and spent about 2.5

I recently had a problem with water in spare tire well of my '04 Forrester that I had difficulty finding the source of. It didn't look like the hatch gasket because it wasn't coming in anywhere near it - BUT... The water was running down the outer edge of the gasket, then ...

| Next crisis: After changing timing belt, car running hotter | 07 Nov 2008 22:54 GMT | 4 |
This thing (89 GL) always ran rock-steady on temperature, but after changing the timing belts it runs hot under load. It doesn't overheat, but it gets up to 3/4 of the way up the guage. Prior to this I never ran the car in weather over ~40 degrees, so I have

| '01 Forester P0420 help | 07 Nov 2008 15:04 GMT | 2 |
I have a 2001 Forester that has a P0420 code with check engine light. I had both catalytic converters replaced with both O2 sensors replaced. Two weeks later, the code is back. Then I had a tune up (plugs, wires, PCV valve) and 1 week later, P0420 is back.

my subura imprez will go all the way to 80 kilometers an hr and then just stop accelerating, after that it needs the push of life to get it to 100 but once i’m over 90 its alright and to get to 70 i’m fine, but that in between gap has been growing. what can it be, can the fuel

| OK, next question, '89 GL 1.8: Setting timing | 03 Nov 2008 21:24 GMT | 2 |
I figured I'd check the timing on my '89 1.8L engine. I hooked up the timing light, put the pickup on what I thought was #1 cylinder, plugged the green connector together, and when I went to check, no timing marks, just an opening in the flywheel cover. Wrong cylinder? Nope...no ...

| After replacing timing belt, loud whining noise from engine | 03 Nov 2008 12:11 GMT | 1 |
Thanks for all the tips. I have never done a timing belt before. I saw someone do one on my Corolla Twin Cam about 17 years ago and figured I would never attempt it. Got all the marks lined up, everything back in place, and because of lack

| 1998 Subaru Impreza cigarette lighter not working | 02 Nov 2008 21:22 GMT | 1 |
The cigarette lighter in my Subaru is no longer working which is a pain as I can’t plug in phone charger etc Could it just be a fuse problem? I looked at the fuse box under the hood but could not tell which one was for the cigarette lighter.

| Timing belt, 1989 Subaru 1.8L Again! WTF am I DOING?!?!? | 01 Nov 2008 07:42 GMT | 8 |
OK, went to remove the covers today. Got the right hand belt cover off OK, of course the bolt hidden up under the radiator hose on the left cover gave me a hard time. That is the belt that's broken. As an aside, I was going to *PAY* someone to do this back in January,
