1997 Legacy Wheel Bearings20 Feb 2009 14:01 GMT6
Has anyone inspected, lubricated, or replaced the wheel bearings on an
AWD.  Are they sealed bearings or taper bearings?  Are they
serviceable or just replacement?  Are they able to be pressed in or is
it better to get the entire hub assm?  Thanks
"Chiping" the car16 Feb 2009 23:13 GMT3
In my local motor group there are histories about high
gains in power "chiping" (hacking) the original chips
of the motor. Do you know if Subaru offers this kind of
empowerment in his services? Thanks
Droning noise from the front at highway speeds16 Feb 2009 17:56 GMT3
I have this low droning kind of sound in '99 Legacy, which seem to be coming
from the front wheels starting at about 100 km/h. It disappears on the
curves bending left or when I simply steer slightly left at that speed,
which I did just for testing. Is it a right front wheel ...

I've been getting way too many "check engine" messages lately. I want to
decide ahead of time whether to take it in for servicing. What's
suggested for reading the engine codes? Is there something that I can
plug into a USB port of my laptop and read it directly into my laptop,

New Noise Subaru Legacy '98 2.2L04 Feb 2009 05:09 GMT4
Recently I have had my car stored in a covered carpark over Dec + Jan
months in Australia. Had a friend who started up the engines over the
1st month only. When I started driving it, it felt like I had to
depress the brakes pedal quite some way before the car starts to slow

I have an 08 Impreza 2.5i 5 door automatic, approx 20,000 miles.

Wonky speedometer on 2000 OBW04 Feb 2009 03:59 GMT5
Well, my OBW's speedometer started acting wonky as of today. As I'm
moving along, the speedo goes to rest at zero for a few seconds, and
then it immediately races back up to show the proper speed for a second
before going to rest again. The tach is still working normally, so I ...

The current car is a 2001 Legacy Wagon with about 160,000 km (100,000)
