| PS Rack on OBW | 29 Aug 2009 22:36 GMT | 1 |
00 OBW, on a scale of 1-5, how difficult is it to replace the steering rack w/o the use of an air wrench, a lift or garage? I do as much maintenance on my cars as possible but I need to weigh the labor cost vs the time I'd spend doing it. Last major mechanical repair I

| 99 Subaru Legacy Station Wagon Sunroof Seal Replacement | 28 Aug 2009 23:32 GMT | 1 |
This one has me a bit torqued!! The seal on the rear of my sunroof is shot and the sunroof leaks pretty bad. I have to tape it up when it rains. The other 3 sides drain into the pan and drain out through the drain tubes (this works!). The rear if it leaks drains onto the

| Rapid inside shoulder wear after tire puncture | 27 Aug 2009 19:05 GMT | 7 |
So I found a screw in my tire about 2 inches from the inside sidewall of the left rear tire. It seemed a bit strange but I didn't particularly think anything was wrong until I noticed that the tire was a bit flat. So I inflated it, but the next morning it was down

| Under cover | 27 Aug 2009 13:12 GMT | 4 |
The under cover on my 2001 Forester gave me a little surprise today when changing the oil. One bolt sheared off at the rear cross support plus one of the wheel well clips was missing. While researching the proper nomenclature I read that the under covers

| 92 Loyale engine knocks | 26 Aug 2009 23:18 GMT | 5 |
My daughter owns a 92 Loyale. The engine knocks terribly at times (sounds like lifter knock) and then runs very quietly other times. Mechanic said the oil pump was cavitating and not pumping efficiently. Replaced the pump along with water pump, timing belts, etc. etc. Car ...

| '97 Impreza - Lighter and Radio Dead | 25 Aug 2009 16:50 GMT | 4 |
Have a '97 Impreza, which has served me well for many years. But a while back, the after market CD Player/Radio went dead. Soon after (or maybe simultaneoiusly since I seldom use it), the cigarette lighter went dead as well. I found the fuse boxes and replaced the appropriate ...

| Awful quiet in here...Oil cooler question | 21 Aug 2009 07:11 GMT | 11 |
1989 GL Hatch. Trans oil cooler (radiator) had broken fittings when I installed the radiator. This car goes on the road Nov 1. Since most of the driving is in 55 degree or less weather, do I need to add a trans oil cooler?

| Windshield wiper transmission | 19 Aug 2009 19:07 GMT | 2 |
Last winter I was caught in a terrible ice storm and my wipers froze in the down position while I was driving. I had just turned tem off for a couple of minutes when the sleet and snow had stopped. I must have damaged them when I was trying to get them to start up ...

| '95 Subaru Legacy Lighter socket | 18 Aug 2009 16:47 GMT | 6 |
My Son's '95 Subaru Legacy has a dead lighter socket. Is access to the back or the socket difficult? Does the radio need to come out? He acquired this car from another relative who had the radio replaced with aftermarket several years ago. I'm assuming the power cord from the ...

| 87 Forester - running lights stay on with key removed | 15 Aug 2009 22:39 GMT | 7 |
The only way I can extinguish the running lights is to pull the 20A fuse on the right side, three down from the top. Is this a relay issue, if so, which one? TIA,

| electrical power failure in 2005 Forester | 14 Aug 2009 19:52 GMT | 2 |
This happened last night. My wife stopped the car which had been running fine all day with many stops, and starts. When she went to start the car, there was no power at all, not on dash, and not even a "click" when she attempted to start the motor. She called me, and I

| "subaru knock" 97 Outback | 14 Aug 2009 04:51 GMT | 6 |
Hi- I just looked at a '97 Outback with 173,000 miles that I'm thinking of buying. Head gasket was replaced at 120,000. The engine has a pronounced knock - doesn't sound like piston noise, but rather two blocks of wood hitting each other. The owner described this as "that

| Squeaking sound while driving | 14 Aug 2009 04:40 GMT | 10 |

| Just wondering | 12 Aug 2009 02:47 GMT | 1 |
This group has about 800 embers and I was just wondering how many users have either an XT or XT6? I have two, an 88 and 89 and love them to death. Just wonderful cars in my opinion. John
