Manual vs Automatic06 Apr 2005 21:36 GMT8
I am looking to purchase a 2005 Toyota Camary and would like to
purchase one with a manual transmission. I know they're a little
difficult to find but I have never had an automatic car and I don't
wish to start now. Plain and simple, I enjoy driving "stick". My

Oil Changes05 Apr 2005 20:53 GMT8
My 2004 US Camry handbook says change oil every 5000 miles.  Why is the
interval so short?  If I had a European car in Europe the recommended
change would be at least 10000 miles and if I had a truck it would
100,000 miles.  Is the US oil manufactured to a lower standard?

Funny Burnt Smell after "giving it the gun"05 Apr 2005 10:15 GMT7
after "flooring" it for a little bit, it smells like something is burning
from under the hood.  Everything smells fine at a normal pace, but giving
it the gun and passing somebody, or trying to get through a yellow light,
gives off a funny burning smell.
Air Bleeder Bolt05 Apr 2005 09:53 GMT2
I'm changing the coolant on my 2003 Camry 2.4L 4cyl. and would like to
know where the air bleeder plug/valve/nut is located so that I can
purge the system.  I know I can do it without loosening the air
bleeder plug but would prefer to locate it and loosen it.  TIA  fjf
Considering 2005: but 4cyl or 6?04 Apr 2005 17:13 GMT5
Is anyone out there leadfooting a four and finding it adequate?
I cruise daily at 80 mph with bursts to 90, no passengers or other load
(just me).  Is this car stable enough for that type of driving?
Also, I like to do my own maintenance when I can, but I understand the 2.4's
External Drive belts.04 Apr 2005 17:04 GMT3
I have just been reading in the Haynes Manual on my 1995 2.2lts 4 Cyl.
It stated that the Crank to Alternator and Ac vee belt and crank to Power
steering
Belt should be changed every 6000miles.
99 Camry auto trans probs04 Apr 2005 16:57 GMT3
I've got a 99 V6 Camry, up until about 3 weeks ago the automatic
transmission was perfect..  At that time I had a problem with the starter
motor so ended up replacing it, the very next day the transmission started
playing up.. Nothing major but now when changing gears it seems to ...

Increase oil "Weight" in old cars?03 Apr 2005 17:35 GMT33
Aye, Phillip touched on a point in the "camry Oil change mess" thread
that I would like to chase down.
Is it advised to go to thicker oil as a car ages.
I have an '87 Corolla. It uses about a quart of oil every three months.

What's With the Poor Steering on my 2004 Camry?03 Apr 2005 15:08 GMT2
The steering on my 2004 Camry leaves something to be desired.  It's somewhat
harder than normal to keep in a straight line or in its lane.  You must
constantly move the wheel slightly back and forth.  The steering wheel also
seems somewhat stiffer than normal.  The car is only about ...
Humidity?03 Apr 2005 14:23 GMT1
Que pasa...  1990 Camry LE, 4cyl, auto, 175 000kms.  (Rainy day) The car
stalled for the first 20 minutes of driving when I accelarated from stop.
It also "bucked" when the auto tranny downshifted to accelarate.  After 20
minutes or so it was fine.
