burning rubber smell - 96 camry, 4-cyl.12 Feb 2006 17:58 GMT3
I get a burning rubber smell, but only very rarely, usually only when
driving through a hilly neighborhood.  What could be causing this?
Nothing under the hood is smoking/catching fire.  I just changed my air
hose last month, no change.  Noticed the burning rubber smell maybe a
Replacing Timing belt 12 Feb 2006 15:30 GMT5
I have a 92 camry V6 US Sedan model. On the camshaft gear closest to the
firewall there are 2 marks, 3V and 4V, and on the other gear just one
mark. I verified TDC at the distributor, lined up the 3V mark on the
timing mark and the timing mark on the other camshaft gear. The engine
Price on 2000 Solara convertible???12 Feb 2006 15:15 GMT1
Any ideas on what is a fair price for the SE and SLE convertibles (Fairfield
County, CT) ?  I checked the appraisal sites I know, edmunds.com, kbb.com,
and nada.com.  The prices are all over the place.  Some seem really high for
a six year old car.  Also, I have a dealer coming in ...
another (dangerous) way to flush radiator fluid?11 Feb 2006 21:47 GMT6
To flush old coolant, my '96 Camry Haynes manual recommends opening the
radiator drain valve, and flushing the radiator with a garden hose.
The manual stresses that this procedure will not flush old coolant from
the engine - it recommends the "chemical action of a cleaner" (p1-24)
2006 Camry: Beep and then radio shuts off11 Feb 2006 21:33 GMT3
With a 2006 Camry (purchased in September 2005), for the first time, I heard
a beep, followed by the radio shutting off.
I was able to restart the radio.
Is this a known problem?

Camry'98 question11 Feb 2006 15:52 GMT3
I have a weird problem with my car.
Sometimes it would start in the morning and immediately stop or would run
a low RPMs(for a cold engine.)The car rattles, kind off, and does not move
readily if I put in Reverse. I also noticed that the oil alarm light stays
transmission fluid changeout frequency11 Feb 2006 15:48 GMT6
My Haynes manual says the '96 camry only holds 2.8 quarts of ATF.  (Of
course, my Haynes could be wrong.)
Is this ATF volume similar on the '01 camry?  (I don't have a Haynes
for the '01.)
transmission oil change / gasket adventure11 Feb 2006 05:24 GMT19
Changed the engine oil today, and this time decided to go ahead and
change the tranny oil and tranny pan gasket.  About a year ago I'd
bought a package from Pep Boys that had the tranny pan gasket and also
tranny a strainer, because the last time I went to the dealership they
brake pads remaining11 Feb 2006 01:44 GMT2
I just check my front brakes on my 2001 camry, there is approx 2-3 mm left before touching the brake pad wear limit indicators.  Should I replace the pads now or should I wait a bit longer.
thanks for the advice

Idle Air Control Valve stuck?11 Feb 2006 01:33 GMT1
Which camrys are prone to having stuck IAC valves?  Is this more of a
problem in the 97-2002 models?
Has this been fixed in more recent models?
2000 Camry Transmission Service11 Feb 2006 01:28 GMT3
I have a 2000 Camry 4cyl, with 92K miles. When does the transmission need to
be serviced and exactly what should the service include? Do I just have it
flushed or do I need the filter and all? Do I need to have a dealer do this
work. To me the transmission hesitates every so often ...
buying a used Camry11 Feb 2006 00:45 GMT15
Looking to get a second Camry for the wife.  Maybe something from the
years 1998-2002, with < 100k miles.
Besides having a mechanic inspect the car beforehand, and checking the
VIN for accident history/flood damage, what should one keep in mind
89 Camry Challenging Electrical Problem10 Feb 2006 18:30 GMT3
Our 89 Camry started running poor a few months back, particularly in hills
(under load?). Eventually ended up in a no start condition. Mechanic said it
was either igniter or distributor (coil). First replaced the
coil/distributor with wrecker parts. Ran okay for a month or two, then
camry clock09 Feb 2006 23:43 GMT2
I just had the clock replaced in my 2000 Camry.  The : (colon) between
the hour and minutes flashes.  When I asked the mechanic he said this
is normal.  Does anyone else know if that is the way the clock
functions normally.  Time, tempreture, etc. are all correct.
