I get a burning rubber smell, but only very rarely, usually only when driving through a hilly neighborhood. What could be causing this? Nothing under the hood is smoking/catching fire. I just changed my air hose last month, no change. Noticed the burning rubber smell maybe a

| Price on 2000 Solara convertible??? | 12 Feb 2006 15:15 GMT | 1 |
Any ideas on what is a fair price for the SE and SLE convertibles (Fairfield County, CT) ? I checked the appraisal sites I know, edmunds.com, kbb.com, and nada.com. The prices are all over the place. Some seem really high for a six year old car. Also, I have a dealer coming in ...

| another (dangerous) way to flush radiator fluid? | 11 Feb 2006 21:47 GMT | 6 |
To flush old coolant, my '96 Camry Haynes manual recommends opening the radiator drain valve, and flushing the radiator with a garden hose. The manual stresses that this procedure will not flush old coolant from the engine - it recommends the "chemical action of a cleaner" (p1-24)

My Haynes manual says the '96 camry only holds 2.8 quarts of ATF. (Of course, my Haynes could be wrong.) Is this ATF volume similar on the '01 camry? (I don't have a Haynes for the '01.)

| transmission oil change / gasket adventure | 11 Feb 2006 05:24 GMT | 19 |
Changed the engine oil today, and this time decided to go ahead and change the tranny oil and tranny pan gasket. About a year ago I'd bought a package from Pep Boys that had the tranny pan gasket and also tranny a strainer, because the last time I went to the dealership they

| 2000 Camry Transmission Service | 11 Feb 2006 01:28 GMT | 3 |
I have a 2000 Camry 4cyl, with 92K miles. When does the transmission need to be serviced and exactly what should the service include? Do I just have it flushed or do I need the filter and all? Do I need to have a dealer do this work. To me the transmission hesitates every so often ...

Looking to get a second Camry for the wife. Maybe something from the years 1998-2002, with < 100k miles. Besides having a mechanic inspect the car beforehand, and checking the VIN for accident history/flood damage, what should one keep in mind

Our 89 Camry started running poor a few months back, particularly in hills (under load?). Eventually ended up in a no start condition. Mechanic said it was either igniter or distributor (coil). First replaced the coil/distributor with wrecker parts. Ran okay for a month or two, then

| camry clock | 09 Feb 2006 23:43 GMT | 2 |
I just had the clock replaced in my 2000 Camry. The : (colon) between the hour and minutes flashes. When I asked the mechanic he said this is normal. Does anyone else know if that is the way the clock functions normally. Time, tempreture, etc. are all correct.
