Are Camry's Better?17 Mar 2007 19:24 GMT10
I am a Camry owner and a Camry repairer. I have 219.000 mi and a 2.2l
engine. And I have a friend who's 315.000mi Camry's life was cut short
by an accident(tragic). I was in a Snap-on sales pitch with about 50
others about a certain tool and the salesmen made the statement 'we
'97 Camry timing belt17 Mar 2007 19:12 GMT6
I'm about to replace the timing belt on my '97 Camry 4 cylinder.  The
Chilton instructions mention setting the number 1 cylinder to TDC of
the compression stroke.
How do you do that on this engine?
Failed Emission Testing17 Mar 2007 19:05 GMT3
I just bought a 1994 Camry LE 3.0L and it failed the Ontario Vehicle
Emissions Inspection to my surprise.
The engine runs super smooth and all the leaks at the flanges were
fixed.  Here are the results of the tests...
&#$&!, How do I take off the damn crank bolt? '97 Camry17 Mar 2007 03:09 GMT7
To change the timing belt.  I've always done it with an impact wrench.
Now I've outsmarted myself.  The wrench can't take it off.  The book
says there's an access to the torque converter to jam a screwdriver.
Damned if I can find it.  What I see is a thin metal plate which seems
New 07 Camry first oil change16 Mar 2007 12:36 GMT55
My dealer told me that the first oil change should be done after
first 5000 miles.  Is it true?  I heard people say that first oil
change should be done after first 1000 miles since engine just breaks
in and oil might have some contamination.

Steering wheel shimmy/shake13 Mar 2007 18:38 GMT1
I am having a problem with my 93 (<- I think) Camry. There are times
where I will be driving the car and the steering wheel will start
shaking left to right, but other times it will be completely normal.
It’s like the whole steering wheel is being turning to the left or
torque converter lock...?13 Mar 2007 05:16 GMT7
My '96 camry stalls when stopping (at a stop sign, etc.), only when
warm, etc.  At first I thought it was the leaking distributor O-ring
(which was leaking oil anyway).  I took the car to a mechanic to have
the O-ring replaced (and heater core coolant hoses too, while I was at
'97 Camry rattles inside timing cover12 Mar 2007 23:39 GMT9
My '97 camry rattles inside the timing cover only when the car is
cold.  Sounds like bearing failure.  I replaced the Water pump and
both idlers when I did the timing belt even though they all felt fine.
The noise went away for about 5K miles and returned.  It only happens
Switch Under The Hood12 Mar 2007 07:48 GMT3
I recently bought a '98 Camry LE and it runs great. Today, when
checking the oil and poking my nose under the hood, I noticed a
plunger switch in the  upper far right corner and which is depressed
when the hood is closed. I have no idea what it is for. I went through
85 Camry Cold Start problem12 Mar 2007 05:13 GMT4
Hoping somebody can enlighten me. My '85 Camry would not start this

hybrid storage11 Mar 2007 20:28 GMT8
We own a 2007 Camry Hybrid and need to store it for about 3 months.
Do I need to take special storage precautions or can I just have a
friend come by and start it once in a while?
Thanks for your input,
question on smart key system11 Mar 2007 17:54 GMT1
My Camry has a smart key system and I am wanting to know what to do in
situations where someone else would have to park my car. I assume that
I would want to seperate the actual key from the remote entry
transponder, but then what could I do so that the transponder does not

P1175 Code on 02 Camry11 Mar 2007 07:42 GMT2
Check engine light came on today and I had it the code checked at the local
auto store. Came up as a P 1175 code, "Cam control Fault". The person at the
store didn't seem to know much about it. I can't get anyone to look at until
next week and I need to travel about 500 miles to ...
