Avalon question25 Jul 2007 00:17 GMT5
I'm looking to purchase a used Avalon in the 2000-2004 range and I
have looked at several. Yesterday I looked at a 2004 that had a bit of
a strange "thing".
When I grabbed the top of each rear wheel and shook the wheel in and

I have a 2005 camry  LE and it used to downshift on steep hill when
stepped on the brake. Lately it has stopped doing this. Is there some
sensor that may need replacing next time I have it into the dealer.

Mobil 1 vs. Castrol Syntec23 Jul 2007 23:34 GMT15
I've been using Castrol Syntec in my 99 Camry and have had no oil related
problems.  My local Wal-Mart now sells the 5K mile 5W-30 Mobil 1 for a
couple bucks less than the 5 qt container of Syntec.
Is it worth switching to Mobil 1?  Mobil 1 seems to have a lot of
The "check engine" light that won't go out23 Jul 2007 23:31 GMT8
I own a 99 Camry LE, 2.2 L engine with approximately 116k miles.  In
early June, my check engine light came on and I took it to a
mechanic(one man operation) I had been using for approx six months
based on a referral.  He had replaced the timing belt/water pump in

Camry V6 2004 I can push down the brake-pedal almost to the bottom. Works
the servo-assistance unit too strong? Is that adjustable? Who recognizes
this phenomenon?

03 Camry Valve clatter?23 Jul 2007 05:47 GMT10
My 03, KY built 4 cyl Camry I ordered has logged a 1k miles, and has had a
pronounced valve clacking/tapping like sound since new. No note of this
condition
was on the PDI, and a quick question to the Toyota tech was it's normal.
Welding engine lug broken by Toyota under warranty22 Jul 2007 19:19 GMT13
My 2004 Camry was in for service for a leaking transmission seal under
the factory warranty. Apparantly to fix this the engine and
transmission needed to be removed & separated.
When reassembling the two, a lug was broken from the engine (where the
2005 Camry -- Know anything about an airbag problem?21 Jul 2007 06:29 GMT2
Hello.  I have a 2005 Camry XLE V6 with all options.  I was hit (100% other
guys fault) in the driver's side front at a 90 degree angle.  Speeds were
about 20 mph.  Neither airbag went off.  Is this normal?  My head whacked
the side window hard (still hurts), and I can't help but ...
Testing a MAPP sensor?21 Jul 2007 06:21 GMT2
Found out what the vacuum sensor assembly was, just a MAPP sensor.  Does
not give an failure code on the ECM.  Book explains how to test, but want
to make sure the values for the test are acurate.  Initial test shows 3.5V
and with 25 inHG it gives a reading of 1.5V. The manual ...
What the purpose of the vacuum sensor assembly?21 Jul 2007 06:04 GMT1
Drive a 1992 Toyota Camry LE.  Car warms up, drive a few miles and it idles
rough and has no acceleration.  Open hood, unplug vacuum hose to vacuum
sensor assembly.  Car stalls.  Refasten the vacuum hose to assembly.
Problem solved.  Drive for a few miles and car goes through the ...

I just purchased a "Power Pro" replacement power mirror for the
driver's side of our 1999 USA-made (Kentucky) Camry.  The vendor swore
up and down that it will work perfectly for all USA made cars.  Well,
it fit perfectly but the spacing of the pins in the electrical

Just out of hte blue my brake lights are on all the time.  Even with the car
turned off.  I currently have the battery disconnected.
SO what does the brake light circuit look like?
Is there a switch near the pedal that activates the lights?  Or are the
