Newbie wants to know. Is '01 the first Prius?26 Feb 2005 20:55 GMT10
Aren't there "bugs" in first year model?  What might they be?

Battery warranty question19 Feb 2005 17:15 GMT23
From what I hear, the battery in the Prius is warranted for 10 years by
Toyota.
That seems a bit much.  I'm old enough to remember J.C. Penney's had a
lifetime battery (free replacement) as did Firestone (I think it was them).
Coastal Tech19 Feb 2005 06:30 GMT2
Does anyone know if the accessories sold by Coastal Tech conflict with
warrantees? I am interested in a couple of the devices that they have
developed, and I may purchase them. But I would less inclined if they void
any warranties.
MPG experience?16 Feb 2005 12:54 GMT22
I have just discovered this newsgroup, so please forgive me if I ask
questions that have been raised before. I would like to hear about your
experience with gas mileage. Since picking up my '05 Prius, I have filled it
four times. My MPG averages 44. The last was 38. This is ...
Weight: Plastic Panels07 Feb 2005 13:39 GMT2
Anyone know why manufacturers dont use more body panels, especially on the
Prius, to save weight, hence fuel. I understand a number of the Prius panels
are plastic already
I'm guessing its due to strength/safety?
Counfounded Reverse Alarm06 Feb 2005 14:48 GMT1
You know the one. The Beep Beep Beep that sound in the interior when you
place the vehicle in reverse. The Starship Enterprise wouldn't have one of
those on the helm. Sulu would resign his commission.
How do I defeat that???
I finally did it06 Feb 2005 06:54 GMT6
Since I have impacted your internet experience with my trials, tribulations
and stupid questions over my labored decision to buy a Prius. I feel it is
only fair to inform you that you all helped me immensely in my decision.

I picking up my Prius this week and was wondering if anyone had experience
with using their credit card to pay for a portion of the car.  I remember a
few years ago the dealer freaked.  I figure they're not giving me anything
off if they let me charge a few thousand at least I ...

mileage vs. A/C usage05 Feb 2005 13:51 GMT16
What are people's experiences with the Prius with air conditioing?
I've read that the gas engine needs to run for the A/C to work, so
how much benefit do you see from having a hybrid in the South where
the A/C is used much of the year?  Normally if you're sitting in

The most fuel-efficient autos may not always be the least expensive to
own.
Tire wear on 2001 Prius01 Feb 2005 05:02 GMT10
Hi group,
I own a 2001 Prius and I've been totally happy with it (although I'm envious
of 04 owners!). My only disappointment has been with the rate of wear and
tear on the tires. The car has about 40,000 miles on it, and I've had to
