I picked up my Prius at the dealer today, and drove it 107 miles with an
average MPG of 46.0, including driving over a 2500 foot mountain and back on
I-64.  I really liked the vehicle's performance.  The displays teach you how
to drive it for best MPG pretty quickly.  The car got ...
The wait is over21 Sep 2005 02:16 GMT5
My Prius arrived at the dealer today, making my wait time 4 weeks.  I'm
planning on picking it up tomorrow after work.  It is a small dealer in
western Virginia.
I stopped by after work today to have a look at it.  It is a silver, 2005,
2006 Prius20 Sep 2005 16:33 GMT2
Any word on when US dealers will be accepting orders for the 2006 model?
Seems prudent to go for the 06 and the tax credit from the feds.

Hybrid durability and repair costs?19 Sep 2005 23:27 GMT19
I'm curious about the durability and repair costs of owning a hybrid.
Do they break down more often than a gas car? The regenerative braking
and other features sound kind of complicated. How long will they last?
Since the technology is new I'm sure there will be great improvement in
Stop and go traffic18 Sep 2005 20:47 GMT5
I have a 2001 Prius that I just bought.  This morning I got stuck on
the freeway in stop and go traffic.  Maximum speed was 5 MPH.  Every
time I pressed on the accelerator the ICE would start up and when I
would stop, the engine would shut down.  We were moving about one car
advice for new buyer18 Sep 2005 18:06 GMT4
I'm interested in buying a 05 Prius from Dublin Toyota. Has anybody bought
a Prius from them before? If so, did you like buying from them?
After reading the posts, I have a few questions.
1. Is anybody having stalling or monitor problems with the 05's? The posts
FS: 2004 Prius 3400 miles (Denver) $18,900 OBO18 Sep 2005 17:56 GMT5
2004 Toyota Prius
3,400 miles, silver exterior, gray interior. I am the second owner. I
replaced the bumper, radiator, condensor, and hood. The airbags did not
deploy in the accident. I bought the vehicle after the accident and did the
warning buzz--what does it mean?--+ chat18 Sep 2005 17:43 GMT11
As I went to get out of the car, the buzzer sounded.  It was
accomapnied by both directional arrows showing.  Couldn't
figure out what the problem was, and it was not in the manual
either.  Now, I note when I lock or unlock the car, I see
I Rented a Prius!18 Sep 2005 17:36 GMT2
I just rented a Prius for two days from Dublin Toyota in Dublin, California.
It has almost 9000 miles on it and looks amazingly clean for a car with 9000
miles on it.
I've noticed that the rear bumper already has several scars on it as a
After a week of owning a Prius...18 Sep 2005 04:32 GMT38
I bought the Prius with package #1.
*I've only had to fill the fuel tank up once (499 miles)
*Averaging 57.8 MPG

Undercoating18 Sep 2005 04:13 GMT9
When I helped my daughter buy her base Tercel (first car!) back in 1994, I
brought it home and put it up on jack stands.  Then I got under it and
applied a good thick coating of asphalt undercoating.  The main benefit of
this undercoating was that road noise was almost non-existent!
05 Prius, leather seats, and air bags.16 Sep 2005 23:03 GMT6
I realize that in the effort to keep their car "green" Toyota doesn't
offer leather seats in the Prius. Does anyone know about an issue with
leather and air bags where dealers discourage putting in the leather
because the stiching may not break apart in an emergency to allow the
the interior...11 Sep 2005 20:38 GMT9
What can be done about the interior?  A lot of it looks like
it is going to be marred very easily--and I say that as one
who has never damaged a car's interior.  Why the very
cheap-looking mat plastic?  And the not-too-robust-looking
Silly Question I'm Sure11 Sep 2005 03:29 GMT6
Does anyone know of any AVAILABLE new Prius' out there? Within 50 miles of
New York Metro area?
Thanks.
Current wait times11 Sep 2005 01:43 GMT14
I've contracted with a local Toyota dealer for a Prius with option
package 4.  He has none in stock, and is looking for one for me and for
3 other people.  Last week, he had 2 in stock.  So, on Prius, his stock
has gone from +2 to -4 in one week.
