Thinking of buying a Prius31 Oct 2005 13:34 GMT11
I spend a lot of time on the freeway commuting to work
in my aging Honda Accord. I'm seriously thinking of buying a
Prius to cut down on my gas expenses. I am hoping to
have the following Prius-related questions answered:

Weak Battery?31 Oct 2005 02:05 GMT11
The guy who sold us our Prius said we should never use it to jump-start
another vehicle, as the Prius electrical system just wouldn't be able to
handle it.  Anybody else heard this?  Is this the "official" Toyota line?
Also got us wondering, my wife usually leaves her cell phone ...
Headlights mispointed?31 Oct 2005 01:28 GMT3
Yup, it's me again!
Yes, I will call my dealer with some of these questions too, but quite
frankly we trust these guys as far as we can throw them, and I'm not sure
where else to turn.  And besides, if somebody answers, then it's on the

long downhill braking25 Oct 2005 23:59 GMT4
I'm about to order a 2006, but I have one concern: on a long (3+mi),
steep, winding grade in the B mode, will I have to ride the brakes
continuously to keep the speed under 25mph?  (Anyone recognize the Old
Priest Grade?)  Now, I descend in my WRX in 2nd gear (5spd man) with
Does Color Really Matter?25 Oct 2005 01:12 GMT3
I have a chance to buy a brand new "Salsa Red" Prius and wondered if the
color will make the car seem hotter (as in heat not sheak).
Our summers get up to 101 here in TX then add the heat index and whew...it
is hot.
Prius interesting for?24 Oct 2005 06:14 GMT3
To your opinion, the prius is she more interesting for a lot of small
journeys in city or for long journey on freeway?

All right!  How do y'all clean the inside of the windshield?
Prius recall15 Oct 2005 17:46 GMT9
So what do y'all think of this?  It affects 2004-2005
vehicles.  Is this the same problem that has been discussed
here?  If so, I thought it had been fixed.  Or maybe this just
affects the earlier 2005 vehicles?????
Followup response13 Oct 2005 01:44 GMT3
Let me preface this by saying:  If you want a Prius, you should definately
persue it.  I'm sure that you can find one if you search for it.
However:
Today, in response to the usual sales followup letter, I called the
Drive vs B11 Oct 2005 03:29 GMT4
I'm curious about the B drive setting in my 04 Prius.  How does the B
setting affect gas milage?  Is more energy returned to the battery in
B?  Or is D better?  When should I use B?
Thanks
Prius11 Oct 2005 01:39 GMT8
I just test drove '05 Prius today. I found it very noisy (road noise and
engine noise on acceleration mostly). It reminded me my old 1995 Toyota
Tercel. Our other car is 2005 Subaru Outback. Prius seems to be MUCH noiser
then Subaru. Ride is also a bit rougher (probably because ...
