I need to replace the vinyl boots around the shifters on an '87 4Runner. How the heck does the gearshift knob come off? Is it driven on or threaded? Not real intuitive here. ( my wife has re-upholstered the console and wants to replace the shifter

Okay - I am stupid. I replaced my head gaskets and adjusted the valves on my '88 3VZE. After putting it all back together, it won't start. The engine cranks, but no ignition whatsoever. I have spark going to the plugs. The fuel line is

Will a 87 4runner Automatic Trans with the original harness that has the big white plug for the ECT work without the ECT, say with a manual transmission? What I'm getting at is could you switch the auto for a manual & keep the harness/ecu & unplug the ectl?

I'm replacing my clutch on a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 V6 5Spd with 4.10 gears and 35" tires. I don't want to spend too much money and overkill on a new clutch but I want to buy quality.
