1999 4Runner Timing Belt question01 Oct 2004 00:38 GMT5
I read somewhere that the timing belt needs to be changed every 60,000
miles. I just bought a used 99 4Runner but I don't know how long ago the
belt was replaced (it has 100,000 miles now) ? Does it cause engine damage
if it breaks ? Should I just replace it now to be on the safe ...

em together.
Tundra Security Systems30 Sep 2004 07:10 GMT5
Just bought a 04 Tundra 4x2 Double Cab. Wow what a great truck, very happy
with it so far.
I'm curious about the alarm options out there. Are there any good
alternatives to the dealer installed ($ 900.00 ) system? Aftermarket or OEM,

Tundra questions29 Sep 2004 06:55 GMT2
I got an 04 Tundra SR5 4WD regular cab in July and love it (best vehicle
I've ever owned) but I do have a couple of questions:
1. in reading posts to the group, I've seen mentions of changing the timing
belt at 60,000 - 70,000 miles. Is this a problem with Toyotas and, if so,
Possible to lower start fast idle speed on 3.4?29 Sep 2004 00:23 GMT3
Does anyone know if it's possible to lower the fast idle speed on a 3.4 in a
2002 Tacoma?  Every time I start the engine, regardless of engine temp, the
engine idles at about 1700 rpm, then slowly comes back to normal idle speed.
Thanks for any info.

aspects regarding various questions I have. Would appreciate it greatly.

How useful is AWD compared to VSC and ABS?26 Sep 2004 20:11 GMT1
Back in 2001, I bought a Toyota Highlander V6 Limited.  A big reason being
that it had AWD (all wheel drive) and I had just moved to the lake effect
snow ridden area of northern Indiana/southwest Michigan.  The Highlander has
VSC (vehicle stability control) and ABS (anti-lock ...

How does one find out by the VIN if TSBs apply to your truck?
Is there a website? I haven't found these to be freely available on the
Toyota website.

Oil Relocation Kits - Harmful to your engine?23 Sep 2004 16:17 GMT53
Is there any truth to the rumor that oil relocation kits may be/are harmful
to your engine?
A few months ago I installed a Perma-Cool relocation kit on my 2000 Toyota
4-Runner 3.4L and everything went fine. I would add an additional halfpint
Leak oil sender unit 85 Toyota Truck 22R23 Sep 2004 16:11 GMT4
Can I get and and replace the gasket or o-ring on the oil pressure
sender unit?  Does it even have one?  Or do I have to buy a whole new
oil pressure sender unit?  Mine's leaking oil, don't want to drain the
oil right now just to see if the thing has an o ring.
1999 4Runner 4Cyl transmission conversion man -> auto23 Sep 2004 15:42 GMT3
Has anyone replaced a manual transmission with an automatic one on a 1999
4Runner with 4 cylinders? If so, can you tell me if it was worth the effort.
I would like to do it for the convenience, but, I know the manual
transmission might be a little stronger.
