Recommendation for Tundra tire chains?15 Jan 2006 03:05 GMT6
I have a 2005 std cab V8, 2WD (no ltd slip differential!!) Tundra with
the stock tires. Making a trip in the next few months and I'll have to
traverse some interstate mountain passes.  Depending on the conditions,
some may require use of traction tires/chains to pass.
2/3 1/3 'bench' vs. buckets?15 Jan 2006 02:52 GMT4
I've been looking at early to mid 90s pickups and some have this funky 2/3
1/3 seat which doesn't look as comfortable as bucket would be.  Any one have
a comment on this type of seat?  I had a straight bench in an 86 and it was
horrible.
Any significant differences in Tundras '00-'05?15 Jan 2006 02:52 GMT4
I'm going to buy a Tundra soon.  It will be an Access Cab with a V8.  Other
than A/C, options don't matter too much to me.  It will get fairly regular
use hauling gravel, firewood, building materials, etc.  I'm hoping to get a
limited-slip rear end but that can always be added later ...
maintenance schedule14 Jan 2006 19:54 GMT1
I have always over maintained my vehicles, however I have some issues with
the schedule for my 2WD 2003 Tacoma and have been considering changing it.
The Trans oil, Diff oil, clutch and brake fluid are easy. The book calls for
them NOT be changed ever. The oils I will maybe change ...
Noisy turning 4 wheel drive14 Jan 2006 18:18 GMT42
'83 pickup been running great since my timing belt change.  I had to
regrease the bearings to pass state inspection, but didn't see any
problems with the old ones.  When I put it into 4WD and turn at slow
speeds I get a lot  louder, almost grinding noise and the steering
Removing dealer's advertisements 13 Jan 2006 20:23 GMT3
The dealer has applied an embossed vinyl license-size plate fastened
to the inside of the bed liner.   I called the dealer and they told me
if I removed this plate, there will be a hole where you could view the
cab.  I was wondering what others might do to remove the dealer's tag?
Adjusted screw but Will Not Idle13 Jan 2006 05:36 GMT5
I have a 22RE motor in a 1994 4X4 Toyota Truck. I had the motor
replaced (blown) last week. Now there is a hose that is not connected
hanging from the bottom of the charcoal canister (EVAP). What does it
go to? As far as the idling, no matter how much adjusting I do, I
Lubricaton for squeaky clutch pedal13 Jan 2006 02:44 GMT4
I've got a squeaky clutch pedal that still squeaks regardless of what
lubrication I use on it.  From what I'm seeing its where the spring
meets the arm of the pedal (not from the cylynder behind it).  I've
used every lubricant under the sun (teflon based (white lightning),
Noise in the cab at one rpm only.12 Jan 2006 22:05 GMT4
I have a 1988 Toyota, carbureted 2WD pickup. The truck has a very quiet
exhaust system but at a low rpm just above idle it makes an annoying
"vroom" sound in the cab each time it passes through that rpm. If that
rpm is held steady it will continue. There is no such sound at any
Squeeky clutch pedal on '87 4Runner12 Jan 2006 21:44 GMT1
Not too long ago I noticed a thread on fixes for squeeky clutch pedals
on 1st generation 4Runners.  At the time mine was squeeking but only on
rare occasions.  Now it's a constant annoying squeek every time I press
on the pedal.  I didn't bookmark the neat description of the fix ...

How to test and replace Torque Converter10 Jan 2006 20:22 GMT3
After replacing the timing belt and water pump, my 4runner runs fine on idle,
but when put in gear, it sputters and crawls and stalled.  From when I read
in the forum, most lightly is the torque converter.   Does anybody know how
to test the torque converter?  Any diagram on where ...
