Should motor oil level be checked with the engine hot, or

Believe it or not, I can't find that info in either the
owner's manual or the service manual for my 1988 Toyota

I want to change my Instrument panel on my 86 Toyota 22R Automatic Pickup.
I want to have a tachometer like in the SR5 model.  Is it possible to swap
one in with out too much modification?  I was told the connector are already
there, you just have to plug it in.

I'm having a problem with my current favorite beater truck.
At speeds over 30 it refuses to shift into a higher gear. In fact, I can't
tell whether or not it is even shifting from first to second.

I just bought a 2003 Tacoma which had only one key. The cost for another one
at a dealership is outrageous. Anyone having suggestions on how to get
another key made and programed would be welcomed.

I have a 1997 Xtracab Toyota T100 that I just had the 60 inch tracks put on
my fiberglass camopy shell.  I'm hauling a 16 foot canoe on this system
hopefully when I decide on what left I have to buy. It would be nice to be

One more question from my 1984 Toyota Pickup 2WD carburated clutch job.  I'm getting
conflicting information about which direction the clutch disk should point, and I didn't
check the old one before I took it out.
One manual says " The side of the disc that has the springs sticking ...

In the middle of a clutch job on my 1984 longbed pickup, have removed the 7 bolts for
the rear oil seal retainer (to replace the rear oil seal) and the retainer is not
exactly coming out easily.  I don't wedge a screwdriver in the crack and I'm not sure if
I should whack it to break ...

Was just told that the OEM Lexus shocks for the LX450 96 & 97 are not
available any longer.

Which would be a better purchase, a low mileage 2003 (27,000miles) vs a
higher mileage 2004 (47,000 miles)  Toyota Tacoma?  This is assuming each
has been properly maintained, are essentially equipt the same, and the
prices are about the same.

I have an 03 prerunner, with bfg AT 265-70-16. The spare brakets are
too small. anyone know of after market replacement??

Toyota just tracked me down and let me know about the steering linkage
recall. Hope to get it done later this week. When I had the head gasket
recall work done they replaced the timing belt, water pump, themostat (etc)
for the price of parts only. Just wondering if anyone knows ...
