Should motor oil level be checked with the engine hot, or cold? Believe it or not, I can't find that info in either the owner's manual or the service manual for my 1988 Toyota

I want to change my Instrument panel on my 86 Toyota 22R Automatic Pickup. I want to have a tachometer like in the SR5 model. Is it possible to swap one in with out too much modification? I was told the connector are already there, you just have to plug it in.

I just bought a 2003 Tacoma which had only one key. The cost for another one at a dealership is outrageous. Anyone having suggestions on how to get another key made and programed would be welcomed.

In the middle of a clutch job on my 1984 longbed pickup, have removed the 7 bolts for the rear oil seal retainer (to replace the rear oil seal) and the retainer is not exactly coming out easily. I don't wedge a screwdriver in the crack and I'm not sure if I should whack it to break ...

Which would be a better purchase, a low mileage 2003 (27,000miles) vs a higher mileage 2004 (47,000 miles) Toyota Tacoma? This is assuming each has been properly maintained, are essentially equipt the same, and the prices are about the same.

Toyota just tracked me down and let me know about the steering linkage recall. Hope to get it done later this week. When I had the head gasket recall work done they replaced the timing belt, water pump, themostat (etc) for the price of parts only. Just wondering if anyone knows ...
