getting rid of 1986 truck in midwest - impossible!01 Aug 2006 00:27 GMT17
I have a 1986 2wd base model truck with a lot of upgrades and rebuilt
parts, but nobody in or around Chicago wants any of them.  It runs
fine, but the bottom end is making the telltale noises of an engine on
it's last leg, and I stupidly primered it on a whim, so it looks
What issues do Tundra truck owners need to know?31 Jul 2006 23:53 GMT9
I'm wondering what are the common issues that a Tundra truck owner
needs to know about.  I'm sure there are repair records and databases,
but is this data available to the public?

3.0l V6 tensioner spring for timing belt30 Jul 2006 23:06 GMT2
Is it possible to buy the tension spring separately (1992 V6 3.0l)?
The idler pulley seems fine, but the tension spring length is 2.5 in.
and Haynes manual says 2.2 in. max.
It seems that everyone wants to sell the idler pulley with the spring.

98 4Runner rear door not opening30 Jul 2006 14:19 GMT1
Does anyone know any tricks to getting the rear hatch of a 98 4Runner
open.  I imaging that the latch is 'frozen'.  I usually grease it every
few months, but it simply won't open anymore.
Any ideas???
late model Tacomas30 Jul 2006 04:53 GMT11
My understanding is the new tacomas(2004+) are mid size pick-up truck.
and pre 2004 Tacomas are compact pick-up trucks.  Am I correct?  Are the
new Tacomas considered compact as well?  Because to me, the newer(2004+)
Tacomas look a little big to be considered a compact..
Toyota 3VZE Head Gasket question29 Jul 2006 09:23 GMT3
Does anyone know if it is possible to pull and reinstall the head on a
3VZE without removing the camshaft.  I have the a set of instructions
that I had my local Toyota dealership print out for me and they include
a few steps that I hope could be skipped although I haven't torn into
Air Filter replacement28 Jul 2006 04:57 GMT7
I recently replaced the stock air filter in my 2005 Tacoma (2.7L 4
cylinder)
The new filter is a K&N. Does anyone have any input as to the
reliability of these filters? So far I have gotten varied opinions from
1999 Toyota 4-Runner Water Temperature Sender; Where is it?27 Jul 2006 12:07 GMT2
My 1999 Toyota 4-Runner (3.4L V6) now has just over 100,000 miles
on it.  The check engine light has come on for the first time.  I have
noticed over the past couple of months that the Temperature Gauge has
been 'jumping'.  Sometimes the needle is steady, sometimes it drops
Springs and shocks for 98 Tacoma26 Jul 2006 21:23 GMT2
My 1998 Tacoma 4x4 2.7L runs like a champ at 160K miles. My only
problem is the springs. In the past three years I had to replace the
short leaf on the passenger side once and driver side twice (13 months
apart!).

1988 Pickup Brakes...26 Jul 2006 02:16 GMT7
Hey, I'm in the process of replacing virtually every brake component in
my 1988 Pickup (only 73K miles on the same, but boy, I don't think any
of its bolts or fasteners have been removed since it left the factory).
My question today is about my front calipers: for the life of me I
Pulling and replacing exhaust studs25 Jul 2006 21:36 GMT2
I have an '84 22r and am wanting to replace the exhaust system from the head
out.  I have one broken stud.  I've removed broken or stripped bolts from
motorcycle blocks before, but I'm told that the exhaust studs in this engine
are much harder and being old will be difficult to ...
