| Synthetics | 09 Sep 2006 15:17 GMT | 8 |
About 8 months ago I replaced the trans gear oil in an 86 4/4 pickup with synthetic. Stopped all that hard shifting in cold weather without any noticable negative aspects. And it's the same viscosity. I'm wondering your thoughts on synthetic fluids and grease before I

| Dome Light Bulb Options... | 09 Sep 2006 15:06 GMT | 10 |
Crazy question. I just started a job that requires me to drive a lot at night, but also read at the same time. Is it possible to replace the 88 Toyota Pickup dome light bulb A12V5W with a red one? You know, like the bridge of a naval vessel red-lit at night?

98 dark green tacoma......garage kept but hey, I use it as a truck! It has been well kept, but has 8 years worth of scratches, chips, worn areas where the cap's rear window rubbed, stuff like that. What have any of you done to spruce up your trucks? There must be a fairly ...

| Multiple head gasket replacements??? | 08 Sep 2006 08:11 GMT | 5 |
How many of you with the 3VZE V-6 (from the problem years between 88 and 95) have replaced the head gasket more than once? I just found that my head gasket has blown for a THIRD time. I have a lot of miles on my truck (231k) so I can't complain too loudly about poor value, but

| Pricing for a 2006 Tacoma? | 07 Sep 2006 14:27 GMT | 7 |
I'm looking at the 4X4 now, how much should I be looking at for the 2006 Tacoma, 4X4 with the TRD Sports package (Silver)? The sticker around here is right at $30,000 for this model, that seems a little steep to me for a mid-sized truck...I can get a Nissan Titan

| NO AIR TO MUCH FUEL? | 06 Sep 2006 22:58 GMT | 2 |
My 89 pickup starts up ok but wont idle. I need to keep the rpm's up to keep it running. After about 10 min. of driving then only for a split second the engine acts like all the air is completly cut off. After that it runs and idles perfectly. Any ideas for a cure are welcome.

Hey all. I'm new here. I'm replacing my starter and need some help. I was able to get to the mounting bolts and have removed the old one, but getting it out of the engine bay is another story. What mounts, lines, etc. can I easily remove that will allow me to get the starter out ...

| Cruise Control ON/OFF? | 06 Sep 2006 00:35 GMT | 5 |
I am wondering about the CRUISE light on the dash. Someone mentioned that if this light is turned OFF (Cruise OFF) this could make changes to the computer learning how the vehicle is driven, effecting mileage and response. The owner's manual cautions to turn off the cruise

Well after 16 years and 160,000 miles my always reliable 4 cylinder, 2WD extended cab Toyota pick up has blown the head gasket. I can't complain since until this point I haven't had the first problem. But now it's time for a new truck as I don't want to put money into the

Hello, I'm ready to sell my 98 Tacoma (124k) and get another one except with a double cab which gives much more room in the back seat. I popped in on a dealer in my area and the sticker on one of the Tacomas had 2 prices on it, $28,000 and then $25,000 'suggested retail price'. ...

| new tires/wheels and TPMS | 05 Sep 2006 03:23 GMT | 1 |
When my '05 Tundra needs new tires in another couple of months, I have been looking at some nice wheels from American Racing to replace the steel ones. I have been trying to find out if there is a way to either swap the sensors or overdisable the TPMS.

| 3VZE Dealer says it will taked 8 hours to adjust the valves.!!!!! | 05 Sep 2006 01:59 GMT | 5 |
I just replaced the head gaskets and everything went well. But I lost track of the valve buckets/shims. Normaly, I would adjust the valves myself (never done it, but it does not look too hard), but I lack the time and the shims. Since my truck was due for the Relay Rod recall, I
