I tried to put on a set of pads yesterday...but there was a hiccup.

I have a leaky seal on the input drive shaft and pinion gear.
How tight should I re-tighten the pinion nut to load the bearing?
Any information is greatly appreciated!

Small amount of play in steering wheel. Problem is at the wheel, since
if I hold steering shaft above pedals steering wheel is loose to
shaft. How do I remove wheel [airbag] cover to access the attach bolt?
