misc questions13 Jul 2005 04:14 GMT5
I have a stick shift corolla and my question is that if I switch to the 5th
gear at the speed of 30mph (I do that to drive in the highest gear to save
gas) the engine does not loose power but it clearly seems unhappy. What
effect does changing to 5th gear at the speed of 30-35mph ...

match up with the official estimate given by the Environmental

Rebuild/repair starter12 Jul 2005 20:54 GMT1
I have a 96 Corolla that appears to have a starter motor that is
failing. When the engine is cold and I turn the ignition key I hear the
starter solenoid engage (loud click) and have to turn the key about 3-4
times before the starter will start the engine. My question is, can I
As the Wheel Turns; the continuing saga of the Celica12 Jul 2005 05:01 GMT9
OK, so I went to work yesterday. I was planningon puching out at one or
two, and I owed a favor to a tech for getting me running last week, so I
was going to clean up his truck and then go to my favourite store...

MR2 20 valve engine conversion question12 Jul 2005 04:53 GMT2
Hi all, looking for ANY help we can find on this......
Problem: The car is a 1986 MR2 that came with a stock 16 valve engine.    We
took out the engine and replaced it with a 1992 4AGE 20 valve engine out of
a Toyota Levin from Japan.   Everything is done except the wiring.  We can
How to get serpentine belt in 1999 Corolla?12 Jul 2005 04:47 GMT2
I've removed the old serpentine belt from my 1999 Corolla, but I can't
get the new one in and I can't find my Haynes manual. The factory manual
doesn't seem to have anything on it. I can't reach down in there and get
it were it needs to be. Is there a trick, or do I have to ...
Avalon tires replaced - smooth ride nirvana!12 Jul 2005 02:42 GMT3
My '97 Avalon's Michelin MXV-4's were starting to approach the wear bars
so I've been spending lots of time at the Tire Rack, various web sites,
and here lurking and researching what tire will give me the smoothest
ride and be decent in the wet.  I'm not concerned about best tire ...

Avalon FINALLY needs work...11 Jul 2005 05:22 GMT11
So the 1998 Avalon which I have owned for four years finally appears to
need some attention. Four years of oil change and gas fill up and the
occasional wash is all I have had to do. Oh and had the timing belt
changed at 60K because I was on a road trip and a delaer talked my wife
WSJ Article- GM Prices Have Remained The Same..11 Jul 2005 03:23 GMT36
In a July 5th WSJ  article it  states that GM's spending on incentives
'remained flat or had only a slight increase' from the month of May to
the month of June.
This is further evidence of the gullibility of the public. They pretty
Engine change petrol to diesel10 Jul 2005 23:25 GMT5
Just a quick question .Do Toyota in line with other makes share common
engine blocks. I was just wondering about  removing a  3S-FE and  fitting a
Diesel and wondering if all parts will fit to the new block. If so what car
has the Diesel engine I would need.
Some questions/observations:10 Jul 2005 14:10 GMT16
Matrix: All the Matrixes (Matrices?) I see are made in Canada. For those
of you on the Left Coast, are there any Japanese Matrixes? (IE, VIN
beginning with "J").
They also seem to have Delco radios, judging from the design. Not
Avensis 2006 - audio questions10 Jul 2005 14:08 GMT1
Just road-tested this car, pretty cool. However, I saw that the audio
systems lacks two features, which are major IMHO:
a) No Mute button
b) No Pause button for the CD or the optional CD changer.
