I have some 99% alcohol I got from a drugstore (not rubbing alcohol, which has additives such as moisturizers) and I was wondering if it would work to clean gunked-up parts like PCV valves and such. If not, would diesel fuel work? Or how about WD-40?

Hi, toyota 4runner 93 auto trans. Sometimes when I stop it will not downshift; I have to do it manually then after a while it shifts normally again. Is some kind of strap loose, what to look for? tia

I was at the dentist and found an issue of Automobile magazine with a review of the new Camry hybrid. They didn't think much of it. No significant mileage improvement (1 mpg), very slow, and suspension could not handle extra weight on anything but smoothest roads.

My 2003 has 36K miles on it....however the service manual does not state when the serpentine belt should be replaced. I always thought every 30 or 50K miles the belt should be changed out. Anyone know the answer?
