Looking for Toyota newsgroups/forums15 Nov 2006 20:21 GMT3
Hello.  I presently drive a VW, but am seriously considering a Toyota
for my next car. I'm trying to find an active newsgroup or forum where
I can ask Toyota owners about the pros and cons of their cars. This
newsgroup (alt.autos.toyota) seems to be pretty active, although the OT
Toyota doesn't believe in door side mouldings anymore?15 Nov 2006 18:24 GMT32
Has anybody noticed that the new Toyota models no longer have door side
mouldings to protect against door dings?  Look at Camry, Avalon, Rav4,
FJ Cruiser.  Even with side mouldings cars take a beating from careless
inconsiderate people in parking lots.  Without them I can only ...

Prius tire balancing "steering by wire"15 Nov 2006 17:32 GMT12
does anyone have experience with unbalanced tires driving the Prius at
about 100 km/h? Unbalanced tires with a car without steerings aids can
be feeled at the driving wheel. What about the Prius with "steering by
wire" and less mechanical contact?

Just recently bought this car, 96 Camry 2.2L Auto, 83K miles. The previous
owner seems to have taken good care of the car, the service book is filled
in to at least 60K.
Car runs great, and good MPG.

Do Toyota Corollas Sold In UAE (Dubai) after 2005 have OBD?15 Nov 2006 16:09 GMT2
I have a software program on the PDA which connects to the OBD
interface of cars and displays the statistics on the PDA screens and
does other profiling etc.
Although I know cars sold in US after 1996 need to have OBD, I wish to
Speedometer test take two15 Nov 2006 15:26 GMT6
On my highway there's a "speed meter" on the side to tell you how fast
you're driving (so to scare you to slow down I guess.)  I took my 2007
Camry, make sure no other cars are around, and set cruise at 75 mph,
and the speed meter picked me up as only going 69 mph.  I circled

i actually have a 2000 prizm and my problem has to do with a rattle
sound, like shaking a can of spray paint when the engine is restarted
when already warmed up.  cold starts are normal regardless of outside
air temp.  car will start normally with no noise when cold but if it is

01 Prius Electrical System Coolant Replacement15 Nov 2006 00:08 GMT3
Recommended 2 year interval, I've extend to 3, due to the very high
quality of our water, lacking nearly all mineral content, and being
very nearly distilled. Changes too often will introduce excessive
corrosive agents and other contaminants, which after a period of

stop at a gas station.

Your expert opinion is invited:

Is there a way to determine the correct position of the exhaust (front)
camshaft, independent of the gear markings?  (i.e. the shaft itself).
Hybrid Hypocrisy (not OT)14 Nov 2006 02:43 GMT49
Interesting how fast drivers get back into the big vehicles once the
price of gas drops a little.  So you see $3 is not enough incentive to
get drivers permently out of the big cans.  We need $10 a gallon and the
demmies will strive for it thru taxes, that is if they are in ...
