{OT} You've heard of NIMBYs, how about COVEs? (NPR MarketPlace program, today)12 Dec 2006 02:15 GMT13
Today's Market Place is going to have a pice about COVEs.
What's a COVE? This is even better then a NIMBY:

Here's an example I heard this AM: The Milk advertisers (Got Milk?) put up
2003 Corolla Question12 Dec 2006 01:09 GMT10
The Toyota dealer told me it was time for front brake pads and rotors
at 30,000 miles.  I know the pads are getting low, but rotors at 30K
for this car?  Neither the Toyota website nor the manual helped me out
on this one.
VIN: 7th digit query12 Dec 2006 00:46 GMT4
I'm in the market for a RAV4, and I have been looking for a 2004 model.
According to the VIN decoder on the Toyota Fleet website
(http://fleet.toyota.com/html/vin_decoder.asp), the 7th digit
represents the restraint type.
2004 Toyota 4Runner Shocks11 Dec 2006 21:26 GMT1
I have a leak in my left rear shock and need to have it replaced. So
far, three different mechanics have told me three different repairs I
need. The most costly one is $1,400 to replace the left rear, left
front, and the gear box. Another place said it was not the shock and a
Rolling resistance of Tires?11 Dec 2006 19:59 GMT11
Is an objective (empirical) measurement of rolling resistance available?
All I know is the column in Consumer Reports assigning one of five icons,
ranging from all-black to all-red.
CR rated the Michelin MXV4 Plus Energy all-red (best), along with one
Buzzing Noise under dash of 2004 Corolla11 Dec 2006 19:06 GMT13
Hello, I own a 2004 Corolla LE. The car drives great and has since I
bought it new from the dealer in July 2003. However, for about 1.5
years now, I've occasionally heard a loud, high-pitched buzzing noise
coming from (as best I can tell) the dash, somewhere behind the
Instrument Panel Colour11 Dec 2006 17:21 GMT33
I'm planning to change the bulb covers on the bulbs in the instrument
panel of my 1999 Corolla. Does anyone know where I could purchase these
bulb covers and what size to use? I want to change the colour of the
display from the stock green to a more exciting colour. Thanks
1991 Camry starting problems.11 Dec 2006 06:24 GMT6
I am having troubles with my fiance's 91 camry. it seems to have an
intermittnet drain on the battery, at times we can go for about a week
without a problem other times it is only about 4 hours and the battery
is dead. I have gone thru most of the wiring systems and not found
$1200 for 90,000 mile service11 Dec 2006 00:47 GMT46
I'm used to paying extra at the dealer, but this has gotten ridiculous.
Went in for the 90,000 service and specifically requested new timing
belt because it's needed.  They call back and start in on how the front
oil seals are leaking and the water pump is leaking, which they
I try stuff so you don't have to! Armor-All "Wax 'n Dry"11 Dec 2006 00:03 GMT2
Well, you would have thought I'd have learned my lesson after trying this
stuff on the Supra, and being disappointed with the swirl marks and the
water spots, but NO, I had to try it again.
This time, on the Mazda. This car was parked under Evergreens for a few

corolla egr problem10 Dec 2006 06:19 GMT3
My check engine light is on, and running diagnostics brings up code 71,
"EGR temperature reporting too low."
I replaced the EGR valve with one from a crashed Corolla of the same
year, which was far cleaner.
Tarago Oil Change Lamp10 Dec 2006 05:08 GMT2
On cue from the lit Tarago Oil Change Lamp on the dashboard,
I dutifully complied including the filter but not the supplementary
tank
under the hood / bonnet, which was not dirty and didn't drain with
Help!! (from the north country)10 Dec 2006 05:03 GMT32
Help, my 1995 Corolla has a very weak heating system.  I am freezing
driving to work up in the north country. What are the potential reasons
for this "lukewarm" heater? Any regular maintenance for heaters?
