Suzuki permanent 4WD problem.28 Feb 2005 09:55 GMT16
My Suzuki Grand Vitara handbook says to use 4wd only in wet, snow, poor
terrain, etc. - but does not say why.   What are the implications of keeping
it in 4wd permanently.
There is not one word of warning against this in the book.
vw or porsche27 Feb 2005 23:26 GMT4
I was wondering which one I would buy: Porsche Cayenne or Volkswagen
Taureg(I may have spelled it wrong, sorry!). I know vw is more
appropriate for hard conditions but porsche is more like a sport car. I
also heard that vw is more luxirious inside. Is that true? Which one
Risk factor with red deisel?24 Feb 2005 21:28 GMT14
Hi, just wondering how many folk here have had a fuel check by customs and
excise? Do you think pickups would be more liable to such checks? Most
farmers around here seem to run on red but surely the risk isnt worth it?
Hope you all dont blast me on the morals of doing such a ...

A somewhat prosaic question, but if off-roaders don't know how to get mud
off cars, who would? Any recommendations as to what to clean my shiny, brand
new, black (Yes, I know, but black looks great when it's clean) X-Trail
with? It's been Supagard treated, but the after-care ...
BFG AT's15 Feb 2005 22:05 GMT10

Anyone know where I can get a pair of BFG 31 x 105 R 15 BFG AT's reasonably
priced, or any dealers reading?  We only need the front two, 'cos they wear
so friggin' well .. Also, and this might sound stupid, but we're only

Yeah, OK, The Nissan X-trail that I have at the moment may not be classed as
a proper 4x4 but felt it safer to post in here rather than normal motoring
group so I dont get sent to hell and flamed for owning a fuel guzzling,
pedestrian killer vehicle that never ever gets its feet ...

No, not the drug or the money!
Having had AWD made clear to me, perhaps you all could oblige over
limited slip differential.
What is it? Is it better/worse than a locking differential, or just

Review/preview just appeared on WhatCar website.
This car seems an attractive purchase but will be built in Spain as is the
Terrano.
Factories in japan have a great reliability record (all X-trails are made in

Frontera steering column removal (to take dash out)11 Feb 2005 09:29 GMT3
Heater matrix exploded on my mum's '95 Frontera 2.4i (as they seem to do)
and I let myself in for the fun of a full dash removal to replace it before
she can sell the monstrosity. At least I convinced her to get a little SJ
like mine - they don't have a heater matrix just a little ...
landcruisers in the Sahara10 Feb 2005 17:30 GMT1
Done a 4-week trip through Libya to the heart of the Sahara. I have uploaded
4 pages with 20 photographs each on my site. One page dedicated to 4WD.
Once you entered the site hit 'news' or the 'worldmap'
Any comments?

Tir-For / Turfer / Jockey Winch Operation05 Feb 2005 23:55 GMT14
I'm trying to figure out how to use my newly purchased (used) Tir-For winch.
I'm stumped!
The winch I have is red plastic sided, with the brand name 'Jockey', with 2
main levers poking out one side, and another smaller lever surrounding one
