Car Audio Bluetooth31 Jan 2005 12:31 GMT3
Just seen a car audio system for sale which, it claims, allows you to use a
bluetooth mobile through the car speakers hands free. Sounds like a great
idea. This was a 'Ministry of Sound' system, not a brand I recognise. Does
anyone know of any other similar systems to compare?

Sony CDX-MP40 too bright26 Jan 2005 18:55 GMT1
Apart from sticking some semi opaque film over the front, does anyone
know how to reduce the brightness of the display ? It is far too
bright at night. I've been through the manual but was hoping that
there might be some 'hidden' method of reducing the brightness. e.g.

Have looked around the net with no luck as yet, so giving you a try!  I have
a Creative Zen MP3 player, and a Sony CDX-F5500 CD head unit.  The head unit
has BUS phono inputs, and I have plugged my zen into this using a phono to
jack lead.  There is no way of selecting this input ...

Maplin speaker - is it worth ?18 Jan 2005 13:47 GMT1
I have a Rover 218 and I am not quite happy with the soud the stock
speakers play and they can't handle half the power the stock head unit
supplies. I believe the problem is with the speakers. My budget is
quite restricted (£30 - £40 for two front speakers, won't change the

Has anyone used a wired FM modulator for playing from MP3 player to the car?
Is the audio quality up to CD standard?
And where can I get one with a wide choice of frequencies, not just 2 or 3?
(I've tried wireless FM (poor reception) and cd changer adaptors (didnt

Pioneer DEHP77MP vs DEH-P80MP13 Jan 2005 09:47 GMT2
First timer taking a plunge into buying a new head unit after years of
suffering with a cassette tuner (*shudder*) in my Volvo. I wanted to go
for an MP3 player and have narrowed my choices down to the 2 Pioneer
players within my £250 budget (excl fitting).

My daughter's just bought herself a Clio (51 plate, 16v, alloys & spoiler,
if that helps identify the trim level), and in celebration of never again
having to jump start her old pug, I'm paying for a Cd changer for her. Is
there any way to tell whether the standard header unit (tape ...

Is Standard VW Golf CD Player also and MP3 Player?08 Jan 2005 18:00 GMT3
This might just be wishful thinking, but I have heard a rumor that the
CD unit that comes as standard with the new VW Golf is actually MP3
caperble - ie burn 10-15 albums onto a CDROM, stick it into the CD
player and it will play them.
