Arse #2!30 Nov 2005 23:13 GMT7
Stopped at Halfrauds tofday on the way t a meeting and thought I'd get some
new Bosch wiper blades for my E34. Dear but worth it.
So fitted the drivers one ok. Passenger side seemed a bit stiff to insert
and finally clicked into place but my finger caught the sharp edge of the
Rugged alarm learning remote?30 Nov 2005 20:31 GMT3
Is there such a thing as an alarm fob that can "learn" from an
existing (but dying) fob? Such as those TV all-in-1 remote controls?
And if so, does it come in a robust housing able to withstand the hard
knockabout hostile environment known as the inside of a handbag? The
Punto clutch change30 Nov 2005 13:20 GMT9
My mum has just been charged £320 for a clutch change on an R reg Fiat
Punto 1.1, by a local garage.
It seems to me to be a tad expensive.
What do you folks think?
Head skimming30 Nov 2005 11:24 GMT20
How does a local garage skim the head for a head gasket job?
I'm picturing heavy machine tools here, Horizontal Grinders and the like.
Do they take the engine out and have another Engineering Co handle the
skimming?
Renault 1.9 diesel head rebuild30 Nov 2005 09:39 GMT6
I'm in the process of fixing a Renault 1.9 diesel engine which snapped
its cambelt.  It's off a K-plate Savanna.
There are contact marks on two of the pistons; the follower for one of
the corresponding valves is smashed to bits.  The damage doesn't seem to
ABS Good or bad for stopping in snow?30 Nov 2005 08:59 GMT62
I've driven in snow for many years but this is the first car I've had
with ABS brakes and driving in snow now feels like the ABS is increasing
the stopping distance.  With conventional non ABS brakes, even though
they lock up I felt more confidence in braking where the tyres ...
2003 Honda Civic - External Temperature Gauge30 Nov 2005 00:34 GMT2
Does anyone know if the 2003 Honda Civic has an external temperature gauge
and, if it does, how do you operate it.
It is my sister's car  and she has lost the manual.
TIA,
Seat Alhambra won't re-start29 Nov 2005 23:27 GMT11
My wife reversed the car off the drive and it stalled.  She says it re-
started once then stalled again.  Now it won't start at all.  The
battery is healthy, turns the engine over but not a sign of firing.
Where should I look first?
Spark plugs29 Nov 2005 20:33 GMT12
This has probably been covered to death, but needs must, I have a SOC 2
litre sierra and just a couple of weeks ago fitted some new plugs, since
then it has occasionally been a pain to start, the recommended plugs in the
Haynes book are Champion RF7YC these are what was in the car ...
Which used car for long distances?29 Nov 2005 17:02 GMT21
Hello. I do an 160 miles round trip, 3 times a week. I've been doing it
do for in a 1.3 Punto, which has been OK but know it's knackered. I
want to buy something second hand and cheap to replace it. I'm not
bothered about what the car looks like or how it handles around a race
renault laguna 1.8 rt29 Nov 2005 15:07 GMT10

Renault Espace 1999  2 litre automatic gearbox29 Nov 2005 12:27 GMT9
I have a Renault Espace 1999  2 litre automatic gearbox, and I have a
problem with the selector stick, on occasions when I put the selector in to
Drive, you can not here the gear box go through the gears, and sticks in
third gear thou it says it is in drive.
Unblocking washer jet29 Nov 2005 12:17 GMT16
Our Pug 306 (1998) has a blocked washer jet.  It has 4 jets from 2
locations (2 jets for each side).  3 of the 4 jets work fine.  The other
one works fine if you point it right up in the air - if you point it at
the windscreen, nothing comes out.  It's been like this for a year ...
Source of clunking noise?29 Nov 2005 08:49 GMT3
I have an S-reg peugeot 406 which has started occasionally making a clunking
noise when I change gear or accelerate suddenly.  It appears to come from under
either the middle or the rear-end of the car.  Surely it can't be a clutch
problem if the noise is coming from that ...
Handwashing cars through the winter28 Nov 2005 22:40 GMT88
I usually handwash my car, as winter is here and frost , road salt etc, I
want to stay on top of a weekly wash, however the cold is against me and
even using rubber gloves , my hands are freezing.
I was thinking of using a Sponge mop, bit wary about the sponge coming off
