My Veccy has started making a new noise when starting from cold.  It's a
sort of ticking/tapping noise that varies with engine speed, quite
noticable.  After the engines been running about 20-30 seconds it stops.
Anything to worry about? Any idea what it might be?

I am going away and am not sure that my battery will last for a couple
of months and want to avoid immobilizer problems when I return to a
flat.
As the car is securely parked my plan is to:

I have a broken heated rear window switch.
The guy that done my head gasket found the fault for me.
This switch is on a cluster of 3 so wil I just replace the cluster?
And is it easy?  Need to disconnect battery?

Does anyone have any experience of changing a Clio cambelt?
If so, a few steps or a link to the procedure would be much appreciated.
Do I need any special tools?

Is this an MOT failure, if not repaired? Currently covered with cardboard,
so no sharp bits showing.

Am I right in thinking surface drive are the best sockets for not rounding
bolts?

temperature gauge seems to be permanently stuck on cold.  Ever so often
it may move up so it's just bordering on the 'normal' section, but then
usually moves back into cold again.
