after test driving a few this one felt like it had a bit more ... power the
1.4 was erm... revvier ... )
mondeo auto gear box15 Jan 2006 18:34 GMT3
I have a 1999 Mondeo 2.0 ghia X auto with 120,000 miles on the clock.... On
the way home the other evening the over drive off light started flashing and
the gear changes became very harsh. This was whilst sitting in a slow moving
traffic jam after 50miles of motorway driving. I ...
M reg 1.6 Cavalier issue15 Jan 2006 16:25 GMT8
Can anybody shed any advice on an issue a friend is having with his
Cavalier?
1.6 M reg Cavalier with single point injector, non Bosch ECU.  Car will run
perfectly OK for days, then suddenly for no reason loose power during
Restoring Plastic Trim15 Jan 2006 14:25 GMT18
What's the best way of making the plastics on my car go back to a black
colour rather than a fladed black/grey colour?
I've tried back to black, which works for a few days, but that's all.
It's far too much effort putting the stuff on when it needs doing every
Astra bubbling water sound15 Jan 2006 13:57 GMT6
Every time I start my astra 1.6 (2000 model) from cold, I get a
horrible sound of bubbling water coming from the dash board area or
possibly under the bonnet.
I have had 2 astras now - old and new models - and both have had this
Problems changing Oil filter15 Jan 2006 13:44 GMT61
First car, first time changing the oil (+ filter) and all that...
So I've done everything the Haynes manual says, no problems, until I get to
the oil filter. I've got my oil filter removal tool (chain type) but I
simply can't unscrew the oil filter, it's very tight. Yes, I'm ...
Mondeo firing on two cylinders - Plugs, injectors or something else?15 Jan 2006 10:24 GMT9
I've got a '95 1.8 Mondeo firing on two cylinders (confirmed by removing the
HT leads and injector connectors of each cylinder in turn - removing those
for cylinders 1 or 2 kills the engine. Removing those for 3 and 4 has no
effect)
Going rate for caliper refurb15 Jan 2006 02:04 GMT9
Anyone got any ideas what the going rate for a caliper refurb is? I want my
16V calipers doing, which, IIRC are single pot calipers. Local factors
quoted £36 with a £10 surcharge if I give them the old caliper back, which
seems a bit dear.
Transit cylinder head and diesel injector removal15 Jan 2006 01:06 GMT3
Ok taking the cylinder head off my transit.
Haynes manual says remove the injectors.
Easier said than done my ones seem stuck and not having
a removal tool. Is it possible to leave the injectors in the head.
106 brake balance15 Jan 2006 00:15 GMT6
My bird's 106 (diesel, drum brakes at the back) has rather disturbing brake
balance. If you brake sharply, the back locks up well before the front. It's
not always been like this as when she bought it 6 months or so ago it braked
perfectly normally when I had a drive of it and ...
Puma Tail still light - how much to diagnose?14 Jan 2006 22:33 GMT57
My high level tail light is still out on my Puma so having checked the bulbs
were all ok I took it to a Nationwide Autocentre where they spent an hour
trying to find the problem. It's not the fuse or the bulbs.
It's still not fixed and I have now been quoted £60+ for a specialist
Removing Diesel injector form 105 (TUD5)14 Jan 2006 19:44 GMT3
Don't laught because i'm sure this is a daft question.
I'm removing the injectors on a 106 and I can't get the fuel return
pipes off.  the supply pipework came off a doddle but not the rubber
return ones.

when slowing down, manifests itself when hot rather than cold
