Ford Ka Cigarette Lighter Socket28 Feb 2006 22:31 GMT1
I've got a Ford Ka, and the cigarette lighter socket is faulty.  It has
a short and blew the fuse (and threw a few sparks when I tried to put a
new one in!).
Thing is, I can't get the socket out.  I've tried putting my finger in
removing window tint (it has been sprayed on !!!)28 Feb 2006 20:57 GMT22
Just picked up my Impreza WRX import from the docks and starting to sort
some of things out on it.
Somebody has kindly put window tint on the back windows, but rather than
the normal film that I am used to seeing, it looks to have been sprayed
Nissan Almera Accelerator Pedal Sticking28 Feb 2006 20:42 GMT5
I've just bought a 52 reg Almera automatic and have noticed when moving
off from cold that the accelerator pedal sticks leaving the car to
creep forward a few yards until the pedal finally moves and the car
surges forward.
Squeaking at 55mph +28 Feb 2006 19:18 GMT19
A few days ago, I was driving at around 60mph when I started to hear a
slight squeak every few seconds from what I thought was the front left hand
side of my W registration Peugeot 206.
It went on for around 5 minutes and stopped.
Mercedes Benz rear suspension28 Feb 2006 19:14 GMT2
My 190E was running low on the rear. O/S slightly lower than N/S.
I have replaced both rear road springs and the N/S has risen to the correct
height. The O/S however is still too low. The bottom of the rear arch is
about level with the top of the tyre. The N/S has about 40mm ...

Two week old RX8 - suspension clonk!28 Feb 2006 18:41 GMT5
Here's a funny one - it is of course covered by warranty, but sod's law
dictates it has started after 5pm on a Friday, the weekend before I have
to do a 600 mile round trip.
The RX8's offside rear wheel is making a very definite clonk on things
VW 1.8T boost?28 Feb 2006 18:16 GMT17
I've bought a Jan 2000 Passat 1.8 turbo (150bhp petrol) recently. The
power seems to start kicking in around 2000rpm but it's really dead
lower down the revs. It actually feels much worse than my old  1.8 NA
Golf.
Oil question (10w-40 semi to 0w-40 fully)28 Feb 2006 16:03 GMT2
After passing its MOT I decided to treat my Daewoo Lanos to an oil &
filter change at National Tyres.  I assumed they would use 10w-40
semi-synthetic like they did last time but instead they filled it with
0w-40 Visco 7000 fully synthetic.  I wasn't too concerned as it's a good
Renault dashboard lights28 Feb 2006 13:40 GMT5
Having just acquired a Kangoo, I've a few questions about the dashboard
as the van didn't come with a handbook. I assume all the Renault dashes
are similar.
It's a 1998 1.9D
Annoying car auctions end early, is this allowed?28 Feb 2006 12:37 GMT8
Frequently on ebay car auctions it says "advertised elsewhere I have
the right to withdraw auction" etc.
Is this allowed? It doesnt seem fair if they can just end the auction
early for whatever reason they like. Like its not making a good price
Rover 416   blown head gasket is it worth a repair?28 Feb 2006 09:53 GMT2
head gasket has gone on my Rover 416 1998.  Thick white creamy goo
where there should be oil.
Suspect that the engine overheated last year as the garage replaced the
a thermostat of some kind as the cooling fan stopped operating.
Rover 25 sounds like its running on 2 cylinders!!!28 Feb 2006 08:56 GMT19

While changing the starter motor, the main power lead hit metal , with the
predictable sparking result.(yes , I know I am a prat for not disconnecting
Gold, Silver, Bronze awards..Steve Firth, AstraVanMan, PC Paul28 Feb 2006 08:42 GMT11
I know you guys have stuck in the odd jibe here and there in my posts
but nothing too below the belt, but after reading the thread entitled
"Cancel car insurance, pay 80% premium?", what a *fantastic* debate!
That idiot Chris Thomas would *not* give up, even when he was clearly
Nissan Almera petrol cap.28 Feb 2006 00:26 GMT4
To open the petrol flap to gain access to the petrol cap, I have a small
lever on the floor to the right of the drivers seat.
The idea it to flip up the lever to open the metal flap over the cap.
Alas at the petrol pumps to day , lifting the small lever , no responce.
