i have a mondeo 2.0 tdci 130 ghia on an 03 plate which has done 64k.
Yesterday, the car spluttered and ran with much-reduced power and the

Once stopped it restarted OK and the glow-plug light went out as ...
MOT fail on wheelbearing11 Feb 2006 00:59 GMT28
My BMW 528 has just failed on 'excessive play in front wheel bearing'
It's not noisy and doesn't show in driving. Having looked at the various
MOT sites I can't find a definition of 'excessive play'. So what is it?
My SD1 workshop manual gives the amount of free play they specify - ...
Citroen Berlingo Brakes10 Feb 2006 21:57 GMT1
My friend has been doing some repairs to his Citroen Berlingo 1.9d van
(1997) and has had problems bleeding the brakes. He has done this job on
other vehicles in the past but this time has not been able to do it.  Can
anyone advise if there is something different in the way this ...
Proof of no claims10 Feb 2006 21:53 GMT8
Anyone know how Proof of no Claims works with Insurance companies?
Do they cap it at a certain level?
I tend to change my insurance every year but regardless of how many years I
haven't made a claim (never have) the proof of no claims is always either 5,
bump starting and the cat10 Feb 2006 21:45 GMT14
Does bump starting and running out of petrol ruin the catalytic converter?
I've been bump starting quite a bit recently and I ran out of petrol a
couple of times in the last year, and my car is due it's first MOT.
SORN10 Feb 2006 16:56 GMT3
Why can I tax a car before the end of the the month, but the SORN
service dates a re-SORN'd vechicle to the start of the month you call
them? ( Automated service )
ie - I just SORN'd my restoration project for 11 months

Can't say I fancy it much - it appears to be articulated in the middle
which'd make it a bastard to reverse - and the capacity doesn't appear
Seat Toledo opinions/info ?10 Feb 2006 13:03 GMT9
Does anyone here have a toledo ( not the latest one, the one before it
)
I saw one on a forecourt at the weekend, and it  seems like quite a
good secondhand buy. You get  loads of gizmos, a VW Engine / Audi style
Fiesta Zetec 1.25 clutch10 Feb 2006 11:21 GMT2
Just out of interest, it is quite straightforward to change these without
dropping the subframe, etc.
removing the belt tensioner and the water pump pulley bolts will allow the
engine to move sideways enough to change the clutch through the gap.
Corsa 1.0l 'W' reg clutch problem10 Feb 2006 09:33 GMT12
I have just bought my daughter a 1l corsa and she is finding it almost
impossible to drive because the clutch bites about 1/2 to 1 inch from the
floor . I have tried adjusting it but can get it no better using the haynes

The Mrs has just had back from the local garage her 1998 fiesta, darned
thing kept overheating and losing water.  Solution raised was the water
pump, ok Fine.  Change it...."oh, the belt will need doing as well" guy
says.  Hmm, ok cambelt, prolly good time to do it at 60k.
help - possible starter prob?09 Feb 2006 20:25 GMT20
ok for a few weeks now my battery has been quite flat because I left the
interior light on by accident. Anyway, if I push started it it would charge
up ok after a drive. but in the last week when I turn the ignition, there is
no sound at all, not even the starter trying to start. I ...
Brake disk thickness09 Feb 2006 20:11 GMT14
On my last car (Mk2 Fiesta) I used to change the brake disks when the MOT
man said "they're a bit thin".
I now have a Lotus Elise and the manual says: new they are 26.0mm thick and
the service minimum is 24.9mm.
MOT fail on wheelbearing09 Feb 2006 12:19 GMT4
Interesting that no one has given a definitive answer - like 3mm movement
at the top of the wheel or whatever.
My experience of worn wheel bearings is they go noisy first - but can
