Battery charging question.02 Feb 2006 22:57 GMT10
If I want to charge a calcium car battery, do I have to loosen off the
plastic stoppers on the top of the battery first?   Is the charging
procedure the same as for a normal battery?
Sorry for asking stupid questions!
Astra not weatherproof :-(02 Feb 2006 22:53 GMT11
I have an R plate astra estate which is letting water into the passenger
footwell. As far as I can see possible sources are the roof bar
penetrations, the screen, the air intake grill below the screen, the screen
washer hoses, and perhaps the drain from the aircon (since I havn't ...
rough running metro M reg 1.102 Feb 2006 20:42 GMT2
I own an M reg 1.1 rover metro, recently it started to rev up and down of
its own accord, (up to 4000rpm) on some occassions. The problem is worse
when the car is at normal operating temperature. I took it to a rover garage
who's diagnosis was to replace the ECU, Stepper motor ...
engine oil flush products02 Feb 2006 20:07 GMT11
What do people think of the use of engine oil flush additives when
changing the oil?
Could it help clean out any possible gunge in the oil pick up pipe on

Golf PAS?02 Feb 2006 09:21 GMT8
My mum has got a P reg 1996/7 Golf automatic with power steering. She
always was fairly lightly built and as she gets older (she's early 70's)
she's finding the steering pretty heavy at parking speeds.
Is there anyway to increase the assistance for the steering?

example, how does the plug cover come off?
Can I use a standard plug socket or do they need a new type of socket?

Just wondering if Halfords own brand brake pads are any good compared to the
more expensive Ferodo they sell?

removing the trim panel(s) on the tailgate of a 2003 Passat TDi 130.
thanks
Are Civic autos reliable?01 Feb 2006 18:00 GMT20
Situation is this - SWMBO does need a car that does better mpg so she
stops chucking almost half her salary in the tank. It's not hard as
she's currently got a Jeep Cherokee but this is complicated by the fact
that she's in Florida and I'm not. Well, most of the time.
03 Polo rear brake question01 Feb 2006 14:39 GMT8
The SO has an 03 Polo, which for a while now has had a fairly nasty
noise coming from the rear of the car when braking. I drove it last
weekend and it had got noticeably worse :-(  I'm happy pulling the drums
off to take a look (only done 26k, so be very surprised if the shoes ...

The Mk1 Mondeo TD injection pump has an idle fuel lever which is cable
operated from a waxstat at the base of the thermostat housing. Does
anyone know if the waxstat and cable can be replaced on their own or
does the whole thermostat housing have to be replaced? Its quite
