I've replaced the head gasket on my '96 Rover 1.4 Gta and now I can't
get it to start!  I've checked the battery and plugs and they're both
fine, it's gasping but it won't quite catch.
Any suggestions welcome, a few people have mentioned the timing or the

misfiring megane31 Mar 2006 19:22 GMT9
I have a strange intermittent problem with my p reg 1.6 megane.
The engine will be running fine and then it will start to misfire badly,
sometimes almost dying to the point where I have to floor the throttle to
get it to pick up again. At idle, revs will fluctuate up and down ...
Alloy wheel refurb at home?31 Mar 2006 18:49 GMT2
I've got a '99 Fiesta and the paint on the alloy wheels is looking decidedly
the worse for wear. Staining and paint lifting mainly, and products like
Wonder Wheels have little or no effect on the finish. There's also a couple
of light kerbing scratches.
Sump Gaskets / Leakyness31 Mar 2006 18:06 GMT4
I fitted a GSF sump gasket to my Golf a bit back, and it seems to leak a bit
of oil. I've since bought a VW one, which is copper coated with rubber,
whereas the GSF one was a thick paper type.
Do you or do you not put sealant on metal / rubber gaskets?

As luck would have it.31 Mar 2006 13:52 GMT2
We've been recommended a garage quite near us to have the complex work
done that I can't do due to lack of skill or time.
We finally started to test it out today. My wife's Felicia needs a new
gearbox. The synchro went completely on 5th a while back. As she just

Ok chaps the next question from my work colleague is how do you change
the glow plugs on a Multipla JTD pre facelift model? Aparently it isn't

Unleaded fuel in a PD TDI engine30 Mar 2006 19:09 GMT39
I have mistakenly filled my new Skoda, 1.9 PD TDI engine, with unleaded, it
was nearly at empty and I filled it up to full with unleaded fuel.
I drove away from the petrol station, travel less than half a mile and it
conked out at the lights.  I tried to start it and then realised ...
